As for me, I wish society would stop judging people for being at different stages in life. Not everyone gets married at the same age, has children, owns a house, has a successful career or figures everything out by a certain age. Some people are dealing with things nobody knows about, while others simply want a different kind of life.
I don't understand why people feel entitled to question someone's choices just because they don't fit the usual expectations. Life is already difficult enough without constantly feeling like you're being measured against everyone else. I'd love to see people give each other more room to live without so much judgment.

“Society” is not some far away, anonymous monolith. It’s people, you, me and us. So if you’re not judging people unfairly and you’re calling out your friends and family for judging people unfairly, then “society” should look and feel exactly like you want it to. If it doesn’t, then you are almost certainly putting too much value on the things complete strangers think, feel and say. If they can’t make you and they can’t break you, there’s absolutely no need to give other people’s opinions any weight whatsoever. Whatever weight you do offer their opinions is a generosity, and it can and should be rescinded if they start treating you poorly in any way.
That said, it is depressing hearing and reading almost everywhere and all the time that i’m a complete POS just for being a man. It’s hard to find people who meaningfully support and encourage men anywhere. There are a few, but most major platforms marginalize them for “hate speech” and other leftist nonsense. I have to remember to disconnect and go spend some quiet time just being me by myself without the incessant yammering of talking heads and disembodied voices.
I don’t have any real friends here and no family at all. So i can’t fairly expect to spend time with someone who will talk me up just enough to make a difference without going overboard so that i detect that it’s performative. Ell oh ell! I have to rely entirely on my own opinion of me and even i don’t like me all the time. 😂😂😂
I wish people could just stop being judged. It's not a value that is conducive to personal freedom and to be frank most people are too stupid and inexperienced to judge other people. And that's not to call them stupid, I think you actually have to be very intelligent to judge other people and that's only one of the several requirements.
You know what people should judge others on? Maybe if they should be driving or not. Judge everyone but me off the road please
You can’t not judge. It’s a survival mechanism. A cold, hard fact of evolutionary biology. The instant you see someone or something, you are assessing potential threats and potential benefits of allowing them to come near. Every single observation adds data to near instantaneous decisions about their potential value or detriment to your own life and livelihood. The longer you know them, the more information you collect. That’s the true reason why people are so distraught when they feel betrayed. That’s your lizard brain admonishing you for letting a potential threat get past your defenses.
Judgement is life, mate. There’s simply no way around it if you have your complete faculties. It’s up to you how to react to your own assessments, but there are consequences for both over vigilance and over acceptance.
@Chazmatazz269 i get what you're saying and I agree but I was talking about how the asker meant it. For example judging someone for being at a low point in life and concluding there's something fundamentally wrong with them is very different than judging someone who has a threatening presence at a bus stop at 3 am and concluding that maybe don't give that person so much direct eye contact and maybe try to stand in front of a security camera.
I think we were talking about the first one.
As for TOILET PAPER I really wish society would stop judging people on the way they their toilet paper on the roll. When you have The Shits who cares if it’s OVER or UNDER.
I think the larger issue herein is that you still “write shit down”. Who does that?
Ell oh ell!
@Chazmatazz269 I write some shit down & I wish I wrote down where I put the paper pad with that saying on it. My mom gave me those pads along with pens that say Fuck Off on them.
As much as I understand what you're saying, there are some things like owning a house vs. renting that just always make more sense from a financial viewpoint for instance I know a couple that have rented a house for the past 10 years and they've put out around $250,000.00 in rent money with nothing to show for that outlay of money. Ten years ago they could of bought a house for $500,000.00 and had it half paid for by now with a current value of close to $1,000,000.00.
That’s mostly not true. A 100% return on investment is extremely rare in high value real estate. Also, most people are not paying off homes in ten years, let alone half-million dollar homes. The average home loan is 30 years. Also, the average homeowner spends 1%-5% of the value of their home on maintenance and repairs just to maintain the value of their property. They spend closer to the high end of that to almost double for remodels and upgrades meant to increase a property’s value. All of those costs land on the owners when you rent. Contrary to popular myth, most landlords are neither greedy pigs nor slumlords. Also, most states and counties have protections for renters who do find their landlord being unfair or unfit.
Furthermore, there are thousands of ways for other people and companies to seize your property from you. A renter is just looking for a new place to live. A homeowner could drain their life savings defending themselves and still lose the house. Now you have literally nothing but rhetoric about how “smart” homeownership is. Which, if you did even a modicum of research on the matter, is 100% banking propaganda to convince you to go into debt and stay there for 30-50 years at a minimum. If they can, they will put you in debt the day you are born and keep you there your entire life.
Don’t believe the hype, mate. Owning a home has dramatically changed over the last fifty years.
Judging people for who they love... we need more love not less in this world.
I wish people would use their brains instead starting a crusade or jihad because media looks for a scapegoat to distract and to deflect attention of real problems.
Right now its Trans people. wtf do people have against them? they are just trying to live their lives. they are a threat to no one.
You are part of "society". Do you do that?
Hell No!
Nothing comes to mind particularly I’m a very positive person
Being male and thus a threat, predator or pedophile.
That all because they had a problem in the past it doesn't mean they still have problems
Nothing. Actually I'm more on the open side. Your choices are your own, but what people think about it is their own thing.
Nicely put. I agree.
Most of those social objectives are crammed into the 25-50 year age bracket. On average people are less happy during this period. Later they get happier again.
