Spider fangs are stuck in my flesh?

So I just came back from a camp in the bush. I was on a train when I felt a sharp pain near my neck. Right when I felt it, I pressed on the place in which the pain came from in hope of killing what had bitten me. I pressed as hard as I could for 10 minutes and lifted my hand away to see a squashed small crab-like spider. I thought it was dead seeing the state of it, but when I tried lifting it off, it wouldn't come off, and instead its legs began unfolding and moving. I was so scared I pressed onto it again, this time harder and for say, 2 hours. During this time, I had tried sliding it off my skin, but it wouldn't budge! So in the end, whilst pressing onto the lower parts of the spider, I cut its fangs from its body. I ended up throwing the body away, and had fangs stuck in my flesh. It is a little red around the fang marks and it hurts when I touch it. Is it safe to leave it there? Will it break down somehow? Or do I need to remove it and how?

If you aren't suffering any symptoms of a venomous spider bite (red, raised welts; nausea; swelling; itching; incredible pain; sweating; chills; etc), then it shouldn't be poisonous. Bad as Australia is with sh*t that can kill you, only three spiders are actually deathly. Sometimes the symptoms only occur a up to 24 hours after the initial bite, so just be wary :)

Get someone to pull the fangs out with some tweezers. Then just put an ice pack or some bite cream/ointment on it, take an antihistamine/analgesic and it should be fine.

Yeah, it'll hurt a bit. But better than letting 'em sink into your skin :S That could cause an infection or be really irritating. Better to get rid of it :) Good luck, hope everything's okay!

spiders can be mistaken for ticks. she said it was crab-like, and she'd just been camping, spiders don't just cling to you with their fangs. Definitely sounds like a tick.

yep. its a tick. I did some research and the pictures I saw matched the one that bit me.

oh gosh, I hate ticks. hopefully you managed to get the fangs out, otherwise they could get infected.

Make sure the spider/insect wasn't poisonous to begin with or else you would need to go to the hospital to get some anti-venom.

Otherwise, I suggest getting a set of tweezers (boiled/heated to begin with in order to sterilize them) and pulling the fangs out. If it's in a hard to reach spot, get a friend or a family member to do it for you. After all that, clean the wound with an alcohol wipe or something along those lines, patch it up, and allow it to heal.

If you're feeling fine, then it should be all good; the spider probably wasn't dangerous to humans.

Nonetheless, just keep an eye out for any symptoms like sweating, chills, body aches, weakness and so forth, because that would indicate toxins in your system.

I had the same thing but with an big ant, only the head and it's fangs were stuck into my thumb. you have to ask someone to take it out with a 'eyebrow-plucker' or with a hot needle. Because like a angle of a bee, if it stays stuck it might get infected and you might get poisend out of it. Best to go afterward to de docter for check up and anti-biotics.

In Australia, it's probably safer to assume everything is venomous and out to kill humans.

You should perhaps see a doctor and have the fangs removed with a tweezers. He might be able to tell what sort of spider bite it is, and if necessary, give you some anti-venom.

The fact that it's still sore to the touch, is a concern.

I was squishing it but it wouldn't die immediately! So I squished for much longer and then tried flicking it off. but since it was dead by that time, it died with its fangs stuck in my skin since I squashed it right when it was biting me.

This will probably infect, so get it attended to ASAP. Your neck is a pretty important part of your boyd, an a doctor can easily remove the fangs.
