Men are supposed to be the leader in a relationship while women are supposed to nurture?

My friend recently brought up this discussion.

Do you believe that good, moral men NEED to be the leader in a relationship while women should be nurturing?

For example, if there is a problem in the family, the man should take care of it?

And do you believe men are meant to be leaders? And women are naturally more nurturing?

I personally feel that some people simply should not lead whether they simply can't handle power, are weak, or just are not intelligent enough to. I also do not think some people should raise and care for others. So, I don't believe that statement is true.

I find statements like this funny, do men take a dominant role in protection? Yes.

That is not up for debate, sorry ladies, it's not, it's nature.

I find it truly irritating that we have to be "equal" in every single regard to cater to the politically correct view that we are exactly the same, programmed the same and capable of the same.

IT'S NOT TRUE.

We are different, we can all adapt so nothing is impossible regarding attitudes. That being said, anyone who suggests that gender is something socially inflicted (i.e. girls playing with dolls, boys with soldiers) is an idiot. Before we became this hypocritical bunch of misfits women birthed children and sustained them with breast milk, meanwhile the man would go and get food. Why? Because it worked.

Nowadays we can all choose to assume different roles, men can be "house-husbands" and women can be the bread winner, but deep inside each man is a drive to protect, provide and compete even if he chooses to disregard it.

So the answer to your question is a difficult one; yes, men are inclined to take a dominant role and women are inclined to take a mothering role but those things don't define us these days. Society has changed everything because of the way it evolved and the way women were treated so poorly by men, after women's rights movements took hold things got better but a lot of people started seeing being a "housewife" as something derogatory.

Basically yes and no, it all depends on the person but we are more inclined to be dominant than women are due to our roots.

Before any feminists on here come and tell me off, my parents both worked and I am all for equal rights, I just find it irritating that people have to act like we have no predisposition for these tendencies because it's simply not true.

We can make ourselves what we choose these days but it's important to remember that there are remnants of the roles we HAD to have to survive as long as we have.

Lead what? A woman can lead just as well as a man IMO and a relationship is not about leading and following it's about giving and taking... so both need to lead and follow

I've found that in my relationships, where I took a more passive role, the girls came to resent me for it. That doesn't mean I had to be "bossy", but most girls that I've known like men who are decisive and will take action without always consulting her for every little detail. I think part of what attracts men to women is that they try to make their lives simpler. In turn, I do think most girls are happier when they are nurturing someone, be it a boyfriend or someone else.

Most leaders in society are men so it's generally fact that men are the leaders. Whether they should or shouldn't be is another question. All I know is that we shouldn't place artificial boosts nor barriers according to gender. How a couple chooses to live in their home is their business. It shouldn't be about how others say things should be.
