Sister & brother practicing dance together?

What would you think about a sister and brother who are a bachata dancing team and practice bachata weekly at home and at class?

FYI: Bachata is a latin dance that belongs to the Salsa dance, and it's considered a very sensual looking dance.

Would you find that weird?

As someone said before it is common to see sibling dance partners especially if you're both attending the same class. I guess its logical also since they live together they'd get a lot of practice out of class. Even if Bachata is a very physical and sensuous dance I think it'd be fine. Though the sister should expect an unexpected physical reaction from her brother all the same. My sister attended ballroom dance classes when she was a teenager and being the good younger brother I partnered with her on two occasions when I came to watch. Even though the dances were simple twirls around the room the close body contact was a bit much for me and I recall popping a boner during one dance. Ouch :// I'm sure it's fine if they are both committed to their dancing and professional about it, but she should always be prepared for something like that.

It seems weird but that's usually the way many people get really good at certain dances.

Like your mom or dad teaches you to waltz. You practice with family and friends. Not all people who are good at dancing had formal training and even if they do, they need someone to practice with outside of class to become good.

Also its not uncommon for 2 people of the same gender to practice with each other.

The only difference here, is that it's a sexy dance but it's learned and practiced the same way. My friend learned salsa from an old couple.

I am a dancer. I see kids on the floor all the time who are related, just because their parents put them in class at the same time. I don't think it's weird. If you ask me, WATCHING the dance is more of a turn-on than PERFORMING the dance, so it's not weird for them to dance together, at least, not to me. It's about being mature about the dancing, dancing for dancing's sake, not for the sensuality of it.

I do know bachata. It's very sensual, but honestly, it's about the dancing. Bachata, Rumba, all of those dances are hotter to WATCH than perform, at least in my experience. Sure, it's preferable to do it with someone you can flirt with, but it's not horrible to practice it with a relative.

if you have thought of this question in your head then maybe you feel deep down it is a bit uncomfortable or might be something you'd rather do with someone who's not a relative. it might be more fun if you two could each get a friend to be the others' partner..it would be more social that way too and you can continue learning the dance as a brother and sister thing. hope this helps!

Actually the reason why I thought of this question was because some of my girlfriends told me they think it's weird, so I started wondering how other people would think of this...

Siblings as dancing partners are always very understandable in my opinion- I do have to admit I'm not absolutely sure if I'd be completely fine with it (knowing you two are siblings) but if you're professional about it, it shouldn't be a problem. It's not like you're dancing with each other BECAUSE it's sensual.

Of course we're not dancing with each other BECAUSE it's sensual. We both started with that dance, and at the very beginning in dancing class we were teamed up and it turned out really well. And since we can practice a lot at home, we said let's stay a dancing couple. But fact is, bachata IS a very sensual looking dance. VERY sensual...

In a choreography, could you cut out some of the more extreme parts?

On another note- even if you work well with him, it might be better to be paired up with someone else because sensual dance should work better with sexual chemistry.

But it works really well with him. Our teacher says we're the best couple in her current class. She encouraged us to stay a dancing couple, if it's OK with us...

Mkay hun. I wouldn't argue about this with me- this is between you and your brother, and I'm going to say- yes. Some people are going to be freaked out about it, some are going to find it weird, but still be okay with it, and some people won't care. That's literally what's going to happen. So knowing that, you can either go ahead and deal with the response, or find different partners. Talk it over with your brother.

Hmm maybe a little just because bachata is supposed to be very sensual. It's supposed to ooze sex appeal and magnetism. It's like you're telling a love story with your dance and I think that's what makes it so exciting to watch! :D that would be awkward to do with your brother lol I'd think it was weird only if they were seriously having an intense, romantic time while dancing!

I think it's okay to practice, but you should find a guy who's not your brother to do the final dance with you :) if he's cute and you guys have chemistry, that will help! Unless you make the dance cute in a sibling way.

Nah ha ha I have a funny story about that well I was at my friends party and we were doing dances like that bu we looked inside and you see her mom and brothers grinding and she runs in and joins them it's a lot less awkward then thatblmao
