Pokemon (the battling, not the adventure) is way WAY more strategic than most realize. They see the kids' cartoon and think the game is just as juvenile as the show is.

Search "PBR wifi" on YouTube, and read the comments, and you will see that the turn-based RPG fighting style of Pokemon is like a more complicated modern version of chess.

To be a good battler, there's a lot of preparation and strategy involved.

Im 27 and I still play; the strategic coaching-like element of the game intrigues me! 8-)

People stop playing pokemon!? Do we need to give up the video game, or just the card game? Can we at least still watch the pokemon cartoons every night, before heading to bed and covering up with our pokemon sheets?

Honestly, it's a charming game. The pokemons are interesting looking creatures, has a fair amount of fantasy mixed with reality.

Entertaining.

The only time it becomes questionable is when the person is like overly nerdishly obsessed with it. Like that's all your life is about.

Why are you even questioning this? If you were a true Pokefan, you'd keep playing forever and ignore the haters. Generally, people stop when ever they like, so you personally don't have to stop when everyone else does or tells you to.

My advice: Never stop!

I gave up trying to keep up with Pokemon after the third gen.. but I still play Pokemon Yellow every now and then when I need a good Pokemon fix.

Idk, that's my opinion I can't help how others feel. Its a personal preference. Just like I would think it is odd that a man would be content dating a woman that played with barbies, I would be concerned with a woman contend with being with a man that plays with pokemon.
