Is it rude to pay in coins?

I have a lot of coins. My pocket is bulging with accumulated change. To get rid of some of it I'm thinking of paying for my small purchases (meals, pencils, etc) with coins. Is this rude?

No, it is not rude unless you are holding up a line counting change.

When I was working at customer service,

I'd sometimes be grateful when customers came in with a lot of change (because it disappears rather quickly during the day). Sometimes It took a while for my manager to come and add more change to my register (while waiting sometimes I'd have to short change people). So no, its not rude at all. Money is money.

I don't believe that it is. What is rude is that they say that they can't take it because its too many coins and they don't feel like counting them all. But if you're standing in line...it can be understandable but that's when you tell them to count fast. =P

Eh some people might get all bitchy about it but who cares. It's not rude unless you purposely get in front of someone in line, haha.

When you make small purchases with coins, do your best to have the coins counted and ready to hand over so that you do not hold up the line. If you do that, there is no rudeness.

No of course that's not rude, but make sure you are not holding up the line for a long time. Shops can refuse your coins if you make to bigger purchase in one go.

Gather them and change them in any supermarket. Or use them to buy from the coins machines or to pay for the Petrol stations.

Small purchases? Nope, that's not rude. Big purchases, maybe.. if there's a line behind you and you can avoid it. Either way, if it's what you have, do it.

Tipping with coins is rude. Making purchases with coins really isn't rude. But depending on how much you have just be considerate of others in line behind you.

If it's smaller purchases and doesn't require more than a handful, it should be fine. And in any case, you are a paying customer. Noone should give you smack for it.
