Co-worker won't acknowledge me?

So, there's this guy, he's a bit older than me, maybe 30yo. We've been working together in a drugstore for about three months. He's always treated me in a strictly "correct" manner, he's polite and all, but no more than that. And that was fine for the first few weeks, but now it's just starting to piss me off. Just for the record, guys LOVE me - I'm attractive and I get treated accordingly. There's no reason for him to be like this, so I'm chalking this up to some dumb male pride or whatever. Still, I want him to acknowledge me as a woman because I don't like being treated as a guy - maybe for some girls it's okay but not me. I'm NOT interested in him, I just don't like his attitude towards me, especially since I see him flirting with female customers sometimes (he makes little jokes or whatever). So how do I change this? Thanks

I agree with the first answer: he is just smart. Work can raise all kinds of drama, the smart men treat female coworkes correctly and politely. I wish I had done that, this girl at work is driving me insane with her constant teasing and name calling (accoring to her playfully, but I don't see her treating anybody else like this so I don't know what her deal is or where did she get the comfort to talk like that). I'm a man, I can take it but I'm sure if I responded in a similar manner, I would be in trouble, so I just pretend she isn't there even if she keeps talking, she thinks I'm a jerk but a quiet jerk doesn't get in any work related jams.

You're not going to get him to change. Smart men treat all girls (including ones who think they are attractive) at work like men, to avoid any sexual harassment charges. Flirting with customers is different if it helps make their day, whereas guys don't have that give and take with female co-workers. Do you have to have all men love/lust after you? Why do you even care?

I hate to be that guy...but you are coming of as somebody that wants attention. Basically your post translates to us guys as" I'M HOT LOOK AT ME AND TREAT ME BETTER". It is kind of disgusting actually and trust me there are plenty of women like you. Also doesn't have to find you good looking and it is not his job to make you feel better by making you feel like a woman. Just admit you want eveyrbody to kiss your ass rather than treat you as a person, not a woman or a man but a person.

Be careful of what you wish for.

He may actually be attracted to you, and is using his "proper" treatment of you to mask those feelings. Since you aren't attracted to him, you might well prefer the current treatment to the alternative: him constantly hitting on you or staring at you or whatever.

The grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence.
