Do random strangers try to talk to you or have a conversation when you're out in public?

I mean anytime your out in public, whether it's shopping or hanging out or trying to run errands, or even sitting by yourself listening to music or reading, etc.

When I'm out and about. I always have random people trying to talk to me or ask questions or need help with something. Don't get me wrong I like to talk but sometimes I wonder what would make a random stranger guy or girl approach a person and try to be sociable with them? Even if they do not know anything about them?

Sure, random people say things to me from time to time. I say plenty of stuff to random people as well. Why do you need something to make you be sociable? Can't that just be normal? I think it is... Anyway, what I find weird is when I'm out in public and someone looks like they want to talk to me, but they are too scared... For example I was in the deli line the other day waiting to get my sandwich made. This woman in front of me eye balls me up and down, then she gets all anxious, and tries to flirt, but doesn't say a word. I'm more interested in my sandwich then her at the time, and she gets frustrated scoffs and walks off with an attitude. =P Mind you she didn't even say a word, she was just mad that I didn't start a conversation with her, because she was interested in me... =|

Lol you make very good points. Your right girls wait for the guy to make a move. I notice that alot. sometimes you have the upperhnad to talk. Your right it's normal to talk. Eh, I don't jump at every girl just because she looks or acts interested... She obviously needs way too much attention anyway if she acts like that. Glad it made you laugh, I found her behavior kind of funny to...

You are right. You can't jump at every girl just because they are interested. She probably does need way to much attention if she acts like that. She still could had said hi to you. Yeah her behavior reminds me of one of those scenes in a movie.

Yeah, I'll talk to pretty much anyone that starts talking to me. I don't know, people are weird... Just have to smile and shake your head sometimes.

Lol I agree when people talk to me I pretty mmuch talk back. I sometimes try to talk to strangers just to see what happens or if they respond back. Yeah I agree people are weird. It's not just girls though... A while back I was just on a beer run and got in the checkout line behind some lady. I wasn't paying her much attention, but her boyfriend or husband popped up next to me saying "she's with me, she's with me, just thought you should know she's with me" as he made a scene in the checkout line. He was crazy insecure and a tad bit insane if you ask me. =D I just gave him a wtf look and went along with my business. When I walked out to go to my car she was standing

there looking at me and she giggled about about it. I said something like insecure little fellow, smiled and walked off. She was waiting for him to get the car because it was raining. I passed him in the parking lot on the way to my car, and he stared at me with anger as he loaded the groceries into the trunk in the pouring rain standing in a puddle sopping wet. I just laughed at him got in my car and drove away.

Not too often but it does happen, usually when I am waiting in line or something. I've never had anyone actually approach me to talk, we would have to be already standing by each other. Usually I'm not very sociable and kind of just make a quick response, but sometimes I'll carry on the small conversation. What I really hate is when you are out with someone else and you are talking to them and a random person tries to jump in your conversation.

Lol your right sometimes peopel do n't mind their buisness and when you be out with other people then a random person might jump in the conversation. It makes things interesting. But that is cool people talk to you when your waiting in line.

Yes, quite often. When there's a hundred people at the train station, it's still mostly me who gets asked for directions. (It even happened to me in Japan once, where I clearly don't look like a local. O_o)

Also, random older guys (mostly) strike up conversations with me on the train etc. Sometimes it's nice, but when they go into "young people nowadays suck" mode or creepy mode, it's not. >.<

I also strike up conversation sometimes, like the other day I walked by a cinema and a kid said, "Daddy, look, a 2D movie!", to which his father said, "3D, kiddo!" As I walked by, I chuckled and said to the kid that 2D is something he can have everywhere now.

Wow that is very cool that people try to talk to you. Lol I think the random older guys might be trying to flirt with you. Your right older guys sometimes like younger girls and it can be creepy. But that is good that your friendly and that people ask you for directions. Maybe they get a good vide and sense from you. Lol that movie comment was funny and your right 2d can be seen just about anywhere.Lol. Maybe the boy never seen a 2d movie before.

All the time on the bus during the school year, or when I'm waiting for the bus, or at the grocery store, studying in the hall outside a classroom, etc. I always thought that people had some common sense, realizing that I don't want to talk if I have earbuds in or had my eyes focused on a textbook, but I've been wrong more often than not. It's annoying... If I'm open to chatting, I make it known... by chatting to people. I'm generally approachable and I talk to people... but when I'm listening to music or reading, I don't like being bothered.

Lol your so right. It's funny you say that. I have to agree if I see a person with headphones or their reading a book then I would only assume they do not want to talk or be bothered. Some people just don't get it or don't have the common sense. Sometimes I think maybe people just don't got nobody else to talk to especially if they see you busy doing something. Their is always a time or place to chat or talk. But when people are reading and studying then it's different.

For a few different reasons, but the main two being that I dress like a weirdo, and I'm very willing to help people out.

The ones that I love are the people who either stop in the clothing store to talk about the way I dress (the ones who appreciate it, I mean. It's rare), those people are sweethearts. Or the ones who ask for help in the grocery store (usually little old ladies, because I'm 5'9" without heels, 6'0-6'3" with,) with getting things off top shelves, and then ask for advice on what they should buy, what would go well with what they picked, etc. They are usually surprised that I actually have an opinion on something like that.

I get stopped by random people, for random conversations, too. But the above two situations are my favourites.

Nice. Well people should appreciate the way you dress. I think being different is good. But those stories you told were nice. I think giving advice to people is good when they ask for it. Yea, it can be kind of weird especially when their older guys. Right now as we speak I'm in coffee bean, and this guy tried making small talk, asking me how school was lol I guess people are just friendly..

I get asked for directions only if I'm in my estate (no one's ever around and if you don't know where you are you'll get lost) or when I'm with one other friend. Other than that, I'm rarely randomly approached. Strangers don't try to talk to me.

Yeah well that is cool that people ask you for directions. Getting lost can happen to anybody. That is cool that you help if somebody is lost.

Lol. I been to New York lots of time. The thing I notice is the girls don't make eye contact with guys and they ignore them. I did a couple of times had girls approach me in Manhatten. I was getting a hot dog one time from the street and a girl came up to me and asked if I knew where this store was. We had a short conversation and left it at that. But your right for the most part I think most people will not talk in New York City.
