Why are some people unsearchable on the internet?

Ever try to google someone's name and nothing came up? No Facebook, no twitter, nothing! I find that a tad odd. Also, is there anyway to get somebody's phone number online somehow?

Using strictly the internet could be kind of hard to find a person's information. Some people claim that you can, but I doubt that is the case.

If you don't allow your Myspace (anyone still use that) and Facebook profile to be searchable to people who are not on your friends list then it would be hard for a random person to find your profile.

Other information, such as credit information, etc. are information about you that can be gathered, but it's costly. Criminal records are publicly available, but they're not always posted online unless you're a sex offender.

In many cases, a person wanting to get your criminal record will have to make a formal request to a state's court system and then they would send it in the mail.

Most of your public information is costly and doesn't get enough hits (if it is posted online) in order for Google to find it. If you're careful about your Facebook or other online social networking profiles and never get on the news, then it is possible for you to prevent anyone being able to find you on the internet.

Provided they have an email account or have registered with something online, almost anything at all, then finding a person isn't so hard. You just need to know where and how to look. A direct google search of their name will only help if they are social media fans of Facebook or twitter. If they are smart enough to avoid leaving a bright yellow trail, you're likely going to need more information, such as date and location of birth, graduating schools, previous jobs, old mailing addresses, and charity work among other things.

p.s. Anyone saying they don't put personal information on the internet for security issues should be frightened and alarmed. Got a bank account? got email? went to college? Employed by the government? Is your birth registered? Have a mailing address? Own a cell phone?

if you search my name online all you would find is a scholarship thing that I won in 5th grade lol... I don't put my name on anything online so that people can't find me... getting stalked online and then having people come to your house is not something I want :p

If you search me you'll find nothing. It's because I don't want people in my business. I actually find it weird that people put themselves out there like that. it's soo.. attention whorish to me.

I purposely keep my trail clean from Google searches because I don't want random people to be able to look me up. I feel like that's somewhat invasive to my privacy.

It's a lot of work sometimes. Today I was helping a girl on GaG try to find a guy who was born and lives in Italy. Pretty frustrating search and I am somewhat computer literate. If a person frequents the Internet, then it's usually easier.

At my last job I worked with a guy who's working on becoming a cop, he purposely avoids all those things so as to avoid any potential problems or embarassing things coming up.

To avoid stalkers. I purposely hide my information so I leave no trail. Employers look for people that leave compromising information.
