Why are some people so horrible over the internet?

Like literally, what do they gain from being rude or mean to strangers? I’ve seen some really disgusting things said to innocent people. I especially see people bullying overweight people about their looks over the internet and they won’t leave the person alone when asked. Are these people bullies in real life? Or are they just mean online?

They are usually unhappy people. Hurt people, hurt people. And they’re too cowardly to hurt people face to face or while showing their face, so they do it anonymously over the internet where there are no repercussions! Notice how all these bullies have an anon username and no profile pic. It’s for a reason. Just ignore them

Just online, this is what is known as a keyboard warrior. It's the only semblance of power they'll have in their life. These people in the real world toe the line just like everyone else.

I’m not talking about those questions. I’m talking about someone posting a pic or video minding their business, and someone comes into the comments to bully them about their appearance. It’s gross
