Two reasons:
1. The loudest, dumbest voices on the Internet get the most attention. People being reasonable usually get buried beneath the nonsense.
2. It's an bad question designed to be both incredibly open ended and to play on the worse case "what if".
It's easy to see this because the moment you start clarifying the question, everyone's answers and reasoning start converging. Asking questions like how far away are they, are you close enough to touch, etc.
But instead, it's left open. So some people are able to imagine the worst possible scenario for the human and an average experience for the bear. And if that's your assumption, then sure. It makes perfect sense to choose the bear. Heck, even assuming worst case for both would leave the bear as a better choice. I'd much rather get eaten alive over the course of an hour than experience the worst thing a human can do to me.
Anyway, back to how I started. The what if.
This question is meant to show that a lot of women are afraid enough of men that their gut reaction is to imagine the worst case scenario. In doing so, it's meant to raise awareness. That's great and all, but the method is stupid. Hence why there's been so much arguing.
Besides that, I didn't walk away with this convinced that those women are right to be so afraid of men. Really, I became more and more convinced it was irrational paranoia.
Instead, I learned I should just not be alone with a woman. And that if I see a woman on her own, I should just walk in a different direction because seeing me would make her uncomfortable and feel unsafe.
So yeah, bad question. Maybe it just hits closer to home for me because I'm a big guy, so I'm already aware of how I need to be careful not to make people nervous. Like, I'll be going on walks in the evening and women will flinch when they look up and notice me. But yeah, this whole bear thing just rubs me the wrong way.

You have to ask that question the women who participated.
But some answers i heard were:
"If the bear attacks me, no one will ask what i was wearing during the attack"
"The bear will leave scars and people will believe me"
"The bear won't film the attack to share with his friends"
"I won't have to see the bear again at family reunions, year after year"
"The bear won't whisper in my ear, don't tell mommy"
"The bear won't find my home to attack me again"
Genuinely, I have no idea. I don't get this reference, or understand this "meme" or parody. I honestly thought it was a joke.
I have seen answers with reference to a tiktok creator who made a video of why women would choose Bear, rather than man. I haven't seen it myself. I have also seen comments, even below, referencing the OG video was a comparison about assault / sexual assault / abuse.
To be honest, I feel like this is pretty disrespectful toward the guys.
Basically admitting as a woman, I'd rather be confronted and in the presence of a wild, harmful animal that is unpredictable and could kill me in seconds, instead of being in the presence of a man. Which isn't true.
I thought this was a total parody / joke going around the internet, as it makes no sense to me at all why a woman would compare a bear to a human, to talk about assault.
Because the original question was meant to focus attention on sexual assault and violence that women go through in their lives. It was an exaggeration on how women can sometimes feel when walking alone at night or how vulnerable we can be from time to time.
It's a question that was meant to raise awareness on that but the execution was very much flawed and silly and generalizing all men which is always wrong.

It's because those women have been thoroughly indoctrinated by radical feminists, especially those who went to college. Many of them don't even really believe what they are saying, but they know that they will get "canceled" by the left if they don't go along with the propaganda.
Some definitely DO believe that men do nothing of value in the world, even as they live in a world that was completely built and maintained by men, and where every single thing they have, from clean water and food to their designer shoes are completely dependent on men.
And, of course, if they are ever in real danger, they will be calling a man to save them. But they don't need men and would prefer to live in a world without them, or at least, that's what they say.Because the type of man who would ever attack a woman is mentally impaired. And if you are alone a bear is easier to scare away than if a lone man should he be someone dangerous.
Odds are the man is fine.
But odds are higher a bear would be scared away more often. A man would want to hang around. Make you a camp fire. Dry out his socks. He'd fall asleep on half your sleeping bag and eat your food... and you are stuck awake waiting for him to leave.
The bears would be neatly tucked away in the shadows gossiping about the scene.Yet another question about this! :D This is really creating quite an online stir at the moment. Anyway, yes, I'm as befuddled as you are by those who answer with "bear". As I pointed out before, you cannot outrun a bear; he or she will catch you if you try. A bear cannot be bargained with, cannot be outwitted. They're in their element in the wild, it's their territory, and they know it better than you. If you stumble upon bear cubs and the mother is anywhere nearby, you're finished, kaput. Although a man will probably be stronger than you in a fight, you know his vulnerabilities (kick hard in the nuts); a bear will just make you into a snack, you cannot physically overpower a bear.
Bigotry, a lack of understanding of bears, and a remarkably poor grasp of statistics. One way the US is unusual is that here, there's actually a form of violence (sex trafficking, if you're curious) which has more female than male victims.
Yes, more women are attacked by men than by bears, but that's because there are so few encounters women have with bears; proportionally, the picture is VERY different. Women have more to fear from a run-in with a panda than one with a man.
Most of them probably didn’t put much thought into it. It’s a comical assertion that men are dangerously difficult to live with.
If you actually think about it, it’s true. A bear attack is without malice. If you know what to do and what not to do, you actually have a very good chance of surviving. Plus, most people don’t encounter bears frequently. It’s an easy threat to avoid.
Men, on the other hand, may attack with malice. So they’re much more likely to kill you even if you “do the right things”. Also men are pretty much everywhere women are. So if you survive, you’re likely going to be retraumatized every time you encounter a man, or at least fairly frequently until you learn to manage PTSD.
I’d pick a bear too, probably. They look so cuddly!A man is more likely to attack a woman than a bear. And even if the bear does attack the worst thing that will happen is death. Not so bad compared to being taken by a man raped and tortured. Man is basically the most dangerous thing in nature
Clearly dumb and never ran into a grizzly in the woods before. I can handle a man much easier than I could handle a bear LMAO. No man scares me as much as walking in the woods at night hoping a bear don't get you lol.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/alR7NLDyPigIt’s because a bear can’t rape a women. “The worst a bear would do is kill you” which is true but I’d prefer not to be killed by a bear considering that they will literally hold you down and eat you. Unlike a cougar that would go straight for the kill then eat you. But at the same time a man could do a lot worse if he really wanted too. He could kidnap bring you to his dungeon and do unspeakable redroom things.
Because a bear is predictable; they're never going to snuggle up to you and then eat you. The only sensible response to encountering a bear is to react as if they're going to try to eat you (appropriate reaction depends on the type of bear).
Men are a lot more complicated, and women encounter far more of them.
I don't know. Depending on the bear, they'll be skittish or aggressive. Some do even mock charges. But I know too little about bears to risk it all and test those theories.. I've seen how fast grizzlies can run. And polar bears are Always hungry.
In a room of 100 men; you may have 1 man who attacks you but you’ll still have 99 who will not, some will even come to your defense. In a room of 100 bears; all of them will attack and try to kill you. And no bear has ever come to the rescue of a person.
That’s the whole point of radical feminism, to devalue and dehumanize men, and place them in a position lower than animals. Why do you think people use the term “femi-nazi”?A lot of women have been attacked by men, but not by a bear. Bear attacks are pretty rare as you don't see them nearly as often, and even when you do they don't attack unless you scare or provoke them. Unfortunately this isn't true for a lot (NOT ALL) men.
Because they are so indoctrinated into radical feminism and hating men that they would rather get mauled to death by a bear than spend time with a man. We are going to need a lot of bears; I read recently that Washington state is reintroducing grizzly bears so that should help considering a lot of those types of women live there.
I hear bears are also great with children, ladies.
Because they love to act like all men are rapists. Maybe they think it sounds cool
Well one. A lot of these women probably haven’t been face to face with an actual bear and not realize how scary it can be 💀
Two, I think their just making a point to show how scary strange men can be.
I've faced down a bear alone in the woods while unarmed, had it roar at me and then turn and run past me... Not a great experience... I'm pretty sure most women would lose their shit and start screaming.
"Oh don't mind me I'm just trying to act a victim of male oppression and patriarchy , obviously every man wants to rape you right?"

It's posted anonymously, and is a ripoff of an earlier similar question.
A lot of women are dumb. A bear would eat you because you are there. Most men (about 99.6%) would leave you alone and fiddle around on their phones or do something to stay occupied
