Penny for your thoughts GaG.
Do you believe everyone is replaceable in the end?
Penny for your thoughts GaG.
This idea makes sense, if you use a top-down approach. That is, you assume the universe is the only think "real" and that consciousness is a figment of our imaginations.
That is, that the universe is here and we are just "visitors".
(Here's where a penny turns into a dollar.)
However, there's also a bottom-up approach. The idea that consciousness is the only thing that's real, and everything physical is just a manefestation. Quantum physics runs partially on this principle. Quantum-level particles behave as waves of probability until observation forces it to choose. If you think this way, than your "role" is completely arbitrary and doesn't affect your value. Your value comes from simply being conscious, and not being conscious in the same time or way as everyone else. In other words, by simply not being everyone else, you have universal value.
but then, if you're talking about more down-to-earth stuff, I don't think people are replacable. The only reason we get that impression is because we have degraded everyone into numbers and statistics. It's easy to find another employee who can do the same job the same way, it's hard to find another "kambo trick3y". What we offer is too complex and has too many variables for anyone to replace anyone else.
I think any and everyone is replaceable, it just might not be very easy nor the same to do so. None of us are entirely dependent on someone else, we just choose to invest in people. So even of that person is taken away a person still will survive in the end without them (in most cases). But again, that is just that it CAN be done, it just might not be very easy.
everyone has pretty much already said what I was going to but I'll echo it anyway, I think yes people can be "replaced" per se, but more so in the way of filling the role that was just left vacant. you can find new people to play the part of boyfriend, girlfriend, best friend, etc. but the relationship will never be the exact same from one person to the next. does that mean that you will never be as happy with girlfriend number 4 as you were with girlfriend number 1? absolutely not. just because someone was there first doesn't mean they were the best as filling that role, just as because one person has been there longest doesn't mean that someone brand new can't come along and be a better replacement for both your lives.
Not really replaceable, but you can find something new to go in that spot. Some people are replaceable -- crushes when you're young tend to pile up one after another, for instance, coworkers who you found likeable but didn't really get to know well, etc..
But someone you've had a lot of bonding with will never be replaced, per se by someone who fills that exact role. I had a very good friend die, for instance, and, although I keep making new friends every year, yet I still mourn for that one, on occasion.
If they do not possess any special qualities then yes.
If someone is genuine and can offer you the world then they aren't replaceable because its hard to find anyone like that.

Sure you can exchange someone but it's never quite the same. Certain people you feel are perfect for you and others are just there to fill the void left by the previous person.
The green frog speaks wisely.
No. I don't think you could replace any human with another, I think that you can only replace objects, a pair of shoes, clothes and even money but not people. If my relationship didn't last and I move on to another relationship that doesn't mean I'm replacing my ex, that means I've moved on and found another love.
Probably. Even if I think I'm one out of a million, that means there's three hundred people exactly like me just in the United States alone. So, realistically, yeah, everyone can actually be replaced, friends, lovers, all that. You could even find someone who looks just like who you're replacing, probably.
Everyone can be replaced, But not everyone can make you feel the way that person made you feel. And that's what everyone wants, The way they made you feel.
No people aren't truly replaceable. You can get new friends, girl friends, even marry again, but all people are different. In that sense you cannot truly replace someone because they are different and will make you feel a certain way.
Roles can be replaced but not people.
You can get a new best friend, a new roommate, a new boy/girlfriend, etc but you'll have a different relationship with them than you had with the previous people in your life.
Exactly
I don't think anyone can be replaced per say. There with always be memories and feelings that can never be replaced. They can be forgotten or misplaced but not replaced in my opinion.
no. different people can take on the role of friend or boyfriend or whatever, but he/she isn't ever going to be exactly what the original person was to me. and that's because everyone's different, has different personalities.
I agree. Especially since I was head over heels in love with somebody for 5 1/2 years but now that we're broken up, I know I can find somebody else to love.
Hell fucking yes. Everyone is replaceable at all moments of the day. No one of special.
Most are replaceable, but you are special!
I wouldn't say replaced because maybe exchanged but none the these words fit to me but I understand what your getting at it just comes down to individual world view.
I don't think so...could anyone replace your mom or dad? your beloved pet? your loving grandparents?
I think people can be "replaced", but you can be happier with some people more than others.
you can replace different friendships but it wont' be like the one you had before. So yes/no.
Yes of course..people die..and Earth Abides...(:(:(:
Yes because there's always 100 other people like us out there that is probabaly even better then is
Yes. Because people are meant to love other people and we can adjust to each other quickly.
