My boyfriend female dog hates me?

My boyfriend's dog barks, growls, and nips at me every time I come over my boyfriend's house, even when I spend the night. Why am I such a threat, and what should I do?

I had a client whose dog always barked the entire time I was there. I read somewhere that a lot of times they just feel threatened, especially when they can tell if you're taking up their masters time and attention.

I went to the store and bought premium doggy treats. Even though he still barked at the beginning, he quickly calmed down after a while. But, it worked almost too well. Now, he wasn't barking, but he was staring at me and always waiting for me to throw him something.

Eventually, I had to tell his owner to train him to chill out. It's pretty easy. All he has to do is tell him to be quiet and reward him with a treat. Punish him by exhaling him if he barks at company. Eventually he'll get it. If you're boyfriends not willing to nip it in the bud...nip him in the bud.

Thanks for the advice. Yes I agree it it the master's job to nip it in the bud, because his dog won't listen to me. My boyfriend is a kind of guy that's denial about things at times and I don't think he would train her. She other behavior problems that needs to be addressed as well. Is it my place to do something about it.

I always say worry about what you can control. Toucan at least get the dog to stop treating you badly by treating him nicely. I once he gets used to those tasty treats, he'll do almost anything you say, like wait or stop barking at you. Get a book on how to train a dog and get him to listen to you. As long as you're not abusing the dog, your boyfriend shouldn't take offense. In fact, he might be a little impressed.

Watch a few episodes of the Dog Whisperer. The dog sounds territorial, and seems to be protecting her space (which apparently includes your boyfriend). You just have to learn to claim your own space and earn the dog's respect.

How can I do that without the dog growling and biting me? I tried by petting her, feeding her, and walking her. She just don't want to bond with me. It is really getting annoying.

Is this a new dog that's trying to get used to you? Does he bark at everyone or just you? Do you have pets of your own, maybe he smells your pets on you? Like shyblondie said...try to pet or play the dog or bring treats.

have you tried to actually pet it and give it attention? Also bring a treat or some kind of food and the dog will probably like you after that.

I had pet her, walked her, and fed her. It does not seem to work. It is getting very annoying and I am starting not to like the dog.
