I cannot stand my boyfriend’s dog and I don’t know what to do about it?

This dog is mean. MEAN! She has her moments but she is so unpredictable and you never know if she is going to bite you or not. My boyfriend does nothing to discipline her and her training sucks. I want to mention that I absolutely love dogs. I have three of my own but she is mean to them. She’s bit 2 of them already so she is not allowed to be in my house anymore. She has to stay in the basement. It’s a nice finished basement so it’s not like she’s in a crappy cold basement everyday. God forbid my boyfriend leaves and she cries and cries and cries and just does not shut up! I don’t know what to do. The dog is a lost cause.

Communicate your feelings and be brutally honest in a respectful way don’t sugar coat it though. If you do not communicate your feelings it will just fester inside it’s the same thing for him when he feels something in a healthy relationship there is communication.

Either the problem is worked through or the relationship isn’t meant to be and people end it in good terms. This is how so many major arguments happen is pent up anger, resentment, and other things like this and it never leads to anywhere good I can promise you that.

The last thing you want to do is resent your boyfriend that will lead to both of you being miserable and I do not think either of you want that. If it comes down to the dog being a dealbreaker for you then it’s a dealbreaker. If you can both talk through this problem and become stronger in the end that’s amazing too. But not having hard conversations is going to lead to things coming out in different ways that are going to over time do a lot more damage then having these conversations.

I understand that sometimes people start getting defensive it’s not meant to be a argument you should hear his perspective on things as well and genuinely take it into consideration I hate how some couples are constantly at war with one another. You’re both on the same team and fighting each other is fighting against your own self. Not that fights don’t happen.

At the end of this I do hope things work out for all of you but being honest is the best policy. You have a lot of things inside that you need to tell him or at least put it in writing.

I feel sorry for the dog. She obviously has a strong attachment to your boyfriend, and will do anything to protect him. You and your dogs are threats to her, which she views as threats to him.

Talk to your vet about this, and try to get her in situations with you and your boyfriend thst are not threatening. For example, the three of you going on a walk together.

We have all gone on walks before many times. We thought it was actually helping until she randomly for no reason at all tried to attack my dog. She was just walking and his dog just lunged at her. I felt bad for his dog at first too and tried to be patient with her until I found out she bites him too! He grabbed garbage off the ground because she got into the trash can and when he picked it up she attacked him. So I no longer feel bad for her.

Ban the dog from your property. My husband has a similar dog. In my situation, the dog was getting rehomed when my husband agreed to keep him under close watch and be the sole caretaker. Two walks per day minimum. Things are better, but I still wouldn't miss the dog.

I try to as an animal parent to see outside peoples view of my pet when they meet them. I can honestly say that your boyfriend just does not care about your feelings and prioritieses the dog before your feelings.

It's fine to hate a dog. However she is not going away any time soon. This will only get worse!

My wife survives and loves my dog but he has his bad moments and barking ones.

You have a choice date him and get her or let things end. Cause no one will want the evil dog and you can't ask him to choose her or you!

All you can do is not let the dog around at all. At the end of the day, the dog's not your's, so you can't be the one to decide anything.

Your boyfriend is someone who shouldn't own a dog, but until he sees that for himself, you aren't going to make any headway with him.

Never ever get between a man and his dog. You'll never be as loyal to him as that dog will be. If he put you and that dog in the trunk of a car for a whole day when he opened up that trunk guess which one of you would be happy to see him.
