Trending & News Now I do but not always. As I've gotten older I've got stronger. My current boss calls me boss and trouble because he knows that if I have something to say I say it. If I think something is a sh*t idea and not going to work I say so but if its a damn good idea I say that too. He knows where he stands with me . He has in the past offloaded work on me that he or another section should be doing and although he knows I'll do it, I'll also bitch at him for it and when he thanks me he gets a sarcastic comment like "where can I cash that". If we disagree/argue it doesn't hang over the office for days, he has his say I have mine, then we get the job done. He knows I don't care about rank/grade as do most people in the department. I treat him with respect and expect the same in return. I can be the most helpful person in the world but if you treat me or any other member of staff unfairly then you will be called on it and it will not be taken lightly.
I've been blessed with great bosses over the years. However I have meet so real ass holes in my time and I haven't really the courage to tell anyone off. I tend to keep it in ny head.
In high school, I was working for a seventh day Adventist. I had to fix the machines, and it was always a bit tough working on the insides of machines with no light to help.
So, without thinking, I called him "The prince of darkness" without thinking about that being a nickname for the devil. It wasn't meant to be horribly mean, but just a bit snippy.
Other than that, I've been a LOT more respectful to my bosses than many of them have been to me, but I haven't had "nasty" bosses... just... some being not very bright or sensible. Some being a bit greedy or unethical, but not horribly mean.
I've had some mean and disrespectful clients... and in that way, they are sort of like "bosses" but for the most part, most of my clients have been pretty good. I try to make them look good, so there's rarely a problem.
Yes, I've done it. I think it's easier to do with age and maturity, than it is when you're a kid. And it helps if you always know you can walk away from the job and get another one.
Generally, any time I've done it we had a frank exchange of views, which I always kept respectful on my end.
Sometimes you can see the other person you're talking to is bristling for an argument. Their statements get heated and barbed, and you can find yourself very easily escalating into an argument yourself. It takes a clarity of mind to keep things focused and on topic and let them get heated but not to respond to the heat. 9 times out of 10, they calm down themselves.

Yes. Got me fired once. That boss was a passive aggressive little bitch with anger issues though. I had to put him in his place and I got fired for it. Thank god I got fired, working with him must be just incedibly painstakingly difficult for very little reward.
I really can't work for someone who acts all bitchy like that, it doesn't sit well with me, I don't respect that and I can't work with or for someone I don't respect.
I have a great deal of respect for all my other bosses, they were all really good. They could handle objections, stay professionnal and face issues head on without getting derailed or butthurt. Properly stong characters, I respect that.
Considering that I'm still a college guy working minimum wage jobs? Yes, I'd talk back! I don't need that job, there's a million other.
And I haven't really run into that problem. One job I didn't like and quit after the first day, but beside that... no real problems.
Yep, I have a number of times. You have to stand up for yourself. They may be the boss, but people can only do what they can do in a given amount of time. Many times bosses will try to dump more then someone can handle on a person and just expect them to suck it up and deal with it.
Whilst you shouldn't undermine your boss, you definitely have to stand up to him/her. If you don't your boss/colleagues will take advantage of you. You shouldn't talk back confrontationally to him but you bet you should speak up for yourself in the case of any unfairness.
No cause my bosses have always been chicks in their 40s and they're nice to me. I've talked sh*t to people higher ranking than me cause the weren't giving me the info I needed to get my sh*t done and were being d***s about it.
Every job I've ever had my bosses were treating people unfairly, and giving unreasonable demands.
I talked back to every one of my bosses.
I've been fired from every one of my jobs D:
My boss is a sniveling dullard, and I frequently curse him out to his face, and have even had to slap him a few times. Oh, the joys of self-employment.
