A friend and I debated over this in high school. At the time, I couldn't grasp why anyone would want to sacrifice their intelligence for anything. But as the years have gone by, my intelligence hasn't brought me anything good. I see the world more clearly and I think it's an ugly place full of iniquity and meaningless chaos. I still don't know if I could trade my intelligence for happiness. It's something I would think long and hard about.

I'd be a worried genius. I'd solve problems and actually make the world a better place. An ignorant simpleton? There are too many of those already more than willing to plow the fields of flesh and blood until they die. It's the worried genius who finally takes the plow from the ignorant simpleton so that he too can live as a man should live: Free.
