On 29 December 2022, Edson Arantes do Nascimento, better known as Pelé, died at the age of 82.
He is probably the best known soccer player of all-time and arguably the best ever.

Wow, I didn't realize he was so old. I guess it makes sense. I played a lot of soccer when I was young, but never watched it. I remember Pele back when I was playing in the early 70s. Back then they showed very little soccer on TV. There was no cable TV, no ESPN or anything like that. There were only the three broadcast networks, which rarely showed soccer. But everyone still knew who he was..
He was a legend. Not just for being good, but for his style and really pushing what a player could do. Watching him play really had the wow factor.
Yes.
the love, the craft, the joy... on top of the power, the skill and the drive
(not an accurate title but it does have a point...)
I had heard he was very good. Mostl likely, if he achieved that status of being so reknowned, he must have been the best. RIP, Pele.
He’s the only soccer player whose name I ever knew. May he rest in peace.

In his day Pele was the greatest footballer ever. I don't see how you can compare him to modern players like Messi, who he's never played against.
I still consider Messi the GOAT.
Respects to Pele, a great footballer and a great man. Rest in Peace.
Pelé won 3 world cups, the player who scored the most hat tricks in history, created practically 80% of the moves that today are replicated by great players, has more than 1000 goals and was a complete player. He scored goals with his head, free kicks, dribbled, and played beautifully. He was the best player in the history of football and one of the greatest sports athletes that ever passed on this planet in my opinion.
There is a reason his name has been spoken of as the first GOD of football whom inspired generationa and generationa of of footballers. A legend on the field. RIP Dico
I am not into soccer as much as other folks here. I knew very little about Pele.
But I am sad that he is gone.
Yeah, he was legendary. I'm sad to hear about his death. May he rest in peace
I have never followed soccer and he is the only socer player who I could name.
I don't know any soccer players outside of my babies Ronaldo and Nemar but may he rip
There’s a name you’ve read about if one has ever played the game competitively.
I didn't expect him to be that old. May he rest in peace.
Was he... Most brazilian players pass and present live up to his legacy.
No one would ever take 3 world cups from him.
May he rest in peace.
SAY FOOOTBALL.
IS FOOTBALL AND American FOOTBALL
Yes, and did you know he actually did score over 1100 goals. He was also a very humble man, unlike Ronaldo.
He didn't let impotence ruin his love life.
RIP...
Very possible
