With Sergio, I can't defend what isn't happening on track, and that is CONSISTENT positive results or podiums. F1 will forever be a BUSINESS and as such, you don't keep people in your business that don't do well, can't tow the line, and can't make you money. We know Sergio is talented. Anyone that denies that isn't a fan of F1, but so are all great athletes "at one point." At this point in time, he has racked up a repetitive pattern of him doing really well at the start of the season, and then just tanking. Last season at least, he was coming from the back to the front, but this season, he's crashing consistently and unable to really wrap his head around that car to get it up to any top 5 position which is what Red Bull ideally want. It's turning into Danny Ric, where they blame the car and it must be the car---but in both cases of Norris and Verstappen, if they can get something out of the car consistently, then it can't be "just the car." Driver is a part of that equation.
Don't know if they'll sack him or not, but Red Bull has a full stable of people to choose for that seat up to and potentially including Sainz (though unlikely) so he'll have to pull an actual miracle out in this last race before the break, but even then, if top brass are to believed, he's not going to overcome those contract clauses in time to save himself and at 30+ years old, you don't keep getting those second chances all too often.
Well if Red Bull lose the constructors to Mclaren he will be gone for sure... his sole job in a team dominated by Max is to collect as many points as possible. So far he is not really doing that. Plus it will be even more difficult for the rest of the season.
I could see yuki being given a shot after the break
He has earned it... good result today with both Astons on his tail and on old tires.
he is done.
