Why do some untrained men seriously think they could beat a professional female athlete?

Sorry to say because it is often true. Don’t get me wrong, not all men and not all women. I for example am 6’2” tall 230 pounds and can handle myself very well against a lot of men. I am not a “trained” fighter but was military and a LEO.
I would NEVER get into a ring with a girl but if I did and was forced to fight it would be over quick.
In the ring the only issue I would have is following the rules. It’s not my type of fighting.
Now, biologically men and women are designed differently. On average the male is bigger and stronger. A doctor friend of mine told me that women’s muscle is integrated with the fat layer where men’s muscle is a separate layer. This I don’t know as a fact because I didn’t do autopsies in med school like he did. So that’s second hand info, although I have no reason to doubt him.
Men and women are equal but not the same. I give women a lot of credit for doing things I can’t do, but there are things I can do that most women can’t do… and that’s ok.
Be happy we are different. Celebrate our differences.
I’m ok with that…. weight lifting isn’t really my thing.
Because they can? No offense to the women who work really hard at their sport, but it's not the same competition. There are certain competitions where women can do just as well as men. Ie one of the shooting events I think females may do better at. Weightlifting like in your picture isn't one. The women's record for deadlift is ~636lbs. When I was a senior in High School I lifted 600lbs at our deadlift competition for football practice. I was quite literally stronger than all but one of the women on this planet after practicing for 3 years.
I think someone had too much testosterone. Just kidding. Anyway, maybe they can in some sports but if they're untrained, it's hard to say. They, they as in the men, may be able to beat them, but they may not be able to last as long because they haven't been trained months and months in advance for it. It depends on what sport it is too. But like wrestling or boxing, there wouldn't be a very good match there unless the guys lightweight super small and bony, and the lady super tall and muscular. Even then, who knows. He might win. Just built different. That's why they have women's sports and men's sports.
It's fascinating how confidence can sometimes outweigh reality. Many underestimate the level of dedication, skill, and training professional female athletes undergo. Take tennis, for example—behind each powerful serve and swift volley are countless hours of training, strategy, and mental toughness. While confidence is great, it’s important to respect the immense effort and expertise that professional female athletes bring to the court. In reality, it would be an eye-opening experience for most to face such a high level of competition!

Question: “Why do some untrained men seriously think they could beat a professional female athlete?”
My Answer & Explanation: Some men feel as though their testosterone, muscles, manly determination can defeat any woman since they are men and men are supposed to be strong in their narrow world view and women need to be soft, weak, sissy. I think if that man was asked by the professional if they want to fight he would back out immediately.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, in the battle between woman and man it will always be a 50% 50% chance unless the odds are in your favor. Factors that affect your odds of winning are… who has more muscles, more trained, more stamina, more height, more wins under their belt. Professional grown woman vs weakling man, woman wins. Professional grown man vs weakling woman, man wins. Just how it be.
@Ladsin2 Awww you are saying I’m young thank you. May I ask what about: “ I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, in the battle between woman and man it will always be a 50% 50% chance unless the odds are in your favor. Factors that affect your odds of winning are… who has more muscles, more trained, more stamina, more height, more wins under their belt. Professional grown woman vs weakling man, woman wins. Professional grown man vs weakling woman, man wins.” is ‘literally the dumbest thing you’ve ever heard of’ paraphrasing of course.
@Ladsin2 Okay so, in this hypothetical the way you are presenting this is illogical because if a man were to fight another man it would always end in a tie which is not the case.
What I mean by 50/50 is, you need odds stacked in your favor to win.
I’ve seen women beat men in professional and non professional settings, I’ve seen men beat women in profession and non professional settings… All because they had an edge that the other didn’t.
I implore you to reconsider, read back, and get your head out of the gutter. Sorry not sorry.
A woman can and have beat men, I’m a man so I think I would know.
You answered your own question. They are untrained.
When all things are equal, the man usually will come out on top in a physical confrontation.
However, in all the fights I've been in or witnessed, I know that luck, skill, mental strength and physical fitness are the 4 factors that determine who wins and who loses. These factors are not equal and are always interchangeable, thus making who can win the fight a game of chance. I've seen fights where someone was much physically weaker and inexperienced simply got a lucky hit in.
@Ladsin2 Sadly yes. I grew up in Memphis before my mother joined the Army and had to deal with ghetto nonsense down there. I moved around a lot as a kid and was bullied when mom was in the Army. That inspired me to take up martial arts before joining the military and ultimately landing a job in law enforcement. Working in Corrections meant I had to deal with inmates. So yes, I've had a bunch of fights.
@Ladsin2 I never said anything was 50/50. Show me where I said that? If you know how to read, what you would have seen me say is "When all things are equal, the man usually will come out on top in a physical confrontation."
Since you obviously CAN'T read, let me spell out what I mean in dumbass terms to match your low IQ: "If all things are equal" mean if it is a fair playing field. The next part of the sentence, "the man usually will come out on top in a physical confrontation" means the man wins most of the time. Is that simple enough or did it go above your pea brain?
"who can win the fight a game of chance." I don't think you're writing skills are quite as good as you believe them to be. That said, you yourself did not mention 50:50, Mr. Wack did and I may have jumped the gun. That said you were overly simplistic. 90:10 men beat women in any scenario you have. Your statement isn't nearly strong enough.
Usually surveys about this sort of thing are badly worded.
Like "could" I score a point off Serena Williams in a game of tennis? There isn't a law of physics against it. And I am so bad at tennis it would frankly take someone of her caliber to let me score.
But if the question was "in a standard game under normal conditions could you score a point on Serena Williams?" The answer is an unequivocal no.
There was a video of people try to run as fast as Keely Hodgkinson, she won 800m gold. Professional Athletes are a big level beyond what amateurs do, a huge one for everyone else.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/3yGiCcfMw98It would have to depend on how untrained the man is and what sport is in question.
Because men have 15× more testosterone reserves than women and testosterone is the core fuel of all physical activity.
Unless the sports request technical dexterity, just by force and speed alone men the advantage, trained or not.
Perhaps because of stories like how the Australian women's soccer team, ranked among the top five in the world, played against a group of 15-year-old boys and lost 7-0.
This, apparently, is footage from that game:

Well, now you're changing argument from "beating a professional female athlete" to "breaking the women's world record in athletics". There's a difference between going up against a run-of-the-mill professional female athlete and going up against the greatest female athlete of all time for a particular event.
I think the reason why some untrained men think they could beat the average professional female athlete is because the average untrained man has more muscle mass and is therefore stronger than the average trained female athlete. At least that's what the U. S. federal government says. In the research paper "Strength comparisons in untrained men and trained women athletes" published by the National Library of Medicine and available through the National Institute of Health (nih. gov), the paper's abstract states "Results indicate that untrained men have greater upper and lower body strength than trained women athletes in terms of both absolute and relative strength."

Again, you're changing your argument. This time, you're using "Olympic athlete"... so you're changing it from "professional female athlete" to the best female athlete in existence from a given country for a given event (which is what an Olympic athlete is). You know very well that female "Olympic athletes" make up less than 0.00000001% of "professional female athletes".
Just as a reminder, your question was:
"Why do some untrained men seriously think they could beat a professional female athlete?"
For an untrained man to beat a professional female athlete, there just has to be one professional female athlete in existence that is beatable by an untrained man.
By constantly changing your argument from:
"Why do some untrained men seriously think they could beat a professional female athlete?"
... to:
"You can't break a specific women's world record"
... to:
"Why do some untrained men seriously think they could beat a female *Olympic* athlete?"
... you're using a logical fallacy known as "shifting ground".
Over confidence is the main thing. As well as wanting to impress her or feeling insecure that a girl could beat him. Look most female athletes are badass but also very cool people that you could learn a lot from.
Would I ever challenge one? Of course I would…. Do I win? Not unless she’s going easy on me. But you know at the end of the day. She knows I genuinely like and admire her so. So they can kick my ass and cook me dinner to make me feel better lol.
They might think cause they are bigger or girls athletes are not as good as male athletes is probably why. I might sound a little sexist but it true make athletes are more athletic than woman athletes. I would never want to fight though a woman in the UFC though.
It is extremely unlikely. I wouldn't entirely discredit a man who does heavy laboring being able to defeat a trained female athlete in some cases because he is sort of trained but just not trained in weight lifting.
Would depend on the sport , but in gym work ( shown ) and assuming the men were clean , leave out all who are on TRT , and any women also , and a vast number of these guys could beat them , you see it all the time.
It depends on the sport. No, I don't think I could run faster or better than a female athlete who trained but I can take a punch. There's no was as a 220lb guy I'd get into any ring against a woman.
Even if she was 220lbs as well.
I think a lot of those guys are sexist.
A lot of red pill men and incels think this way.
It seems silly to me that men think all women are unable to defend themselves so they need a man to do it.
I'm not untrained but I get it. I've seen flabby guys who couldn't bench press a poodle think they could take on some of the gym girls around here. It is laughable, and those girls are not professionals.
Hehehe, some are not overly bright and don't live in the real world.
The same reason they think they could beat big wild animals like lions unarmed: arrogance.
Depends on what competition. Many untrained guys still have a massive size and strength advantage over elite female athletes
What do you mean by "beat"? If you mean in a fight, the vast majority of men, regardless of training, could beat the vast majority of women, regardless of training. That's just a fact of human biology.
I’m not untrained I have a background boxing and amateur wrestling
Same guys who think any athletic woman must be trans
Depends on the sport. I would be wnba mvp rn
I love working out with female bodybuilders and I've slept with 2.
sexism comes before logic
I've done it a few times
An idiot is born every second.
