What kind of difference did it make?
yes... ever since I was a kid
besides the very good exercise and release of energy, it gave me a very good approach to the control of emotions, urges and impulses
unfortunately, it has been helpful as well, for defensive purposes but that's just life sometimes
I did boxing as a kid, the kung fu as a young adult then tried that again later in life with a real shaolin monk.
It did help me become perhaps more disciplined in training regime and make me realise that I should try to avoid getting into a fight with anyone because of the harm I could cause them.
However, the boxing thing brought me one of my best performances in a sport when I came second. They ran a chess tournament for all the club and I came second lol.
Yes I did. I did karate, sparring, and kick boxing. And it did help me a great deal. It taught me how to control my reactions and channel my energy in a constructive way from a very young age.
While my primary focus has been on tennis, I've tried martial arts like judo and kickboxing. These combat sports taught me discipline, mental toughness, and the importance of strategic thinking. The physical and mental challenges helped improve my reflexes and footwork, which translated well onto the tennis court. They also provided a great way to manage stress and build confidence, enhancing both my sports performance and daily life. 🥋🎾

15 years as a US Army Officer. No sport. Just combat. It complicated my life.
No, I just worked on my endurance. I was usually the last man on his feet.
About 8 years of Karate. It kept me fit, I never needed it.
Only for a short time, not enough to be helpful in my current life.
