While, as a scientific American, I'd want all ballpark FIELD dimensions to be the same, I can accept that they are not. At this point, baseball analytics incorporates the fact that parks are different. So, I am not uptight about it.

Besides, think about it like this... Even if all the field dimensions were standardized like they are in, say, the NFL, the environmental conditions are not (just like in the NFL). For instance, the Colorado Rockies are still going to be playing in Denver with a thinner atmosphere thus changing hit dynamics and a smaller oxygen content affecting player metabolism. In the NFL, the Bills play in real winter, while Miami only plays road games in some cities with real winter.

The bottom line is that there is always going to be some form of variability in playing conditions no matter where you go.

By the way, even the NHL doesn't have a univeral standard for rink size; just an allowable range.

... and that's the solution to any of these questions in sports: If you can't regulate all playing conditions to universal equality, then you set bounds on the variability of those playing conditions.

In MLB, its like that. Just like in all the other leagues.

To clarify, there is standardization in the infield portion of the field; all fields have 90 feet between bases with the pitcher's mound 60 feet 6 inches from the18-inch wide home plate. What differs from stadium to stadium is the amount of space in foul territory, the distance to the outfield fences and their height, and the playing surface (artificial turf, natural grass). Of course, the fan capacity of stadiums also differ, but that's true in most sports.

They should have a standard length of grass. I heard different MLB stadiums will leave their grass longer if they have a fast guys on the team lol I think that's unfair. Difficulty or ease of getting a home run doesn't give either team an advantage. That's my two cents 😊
