After the finals today, one fact struck me. Every one of these teams deserves an Oscar for the shameless acting job every player seems trained to pull off on a moment's notice. The flopping for the refs is on par with the NBA. Does every FIFA team have a Hollywood caliber acting coach on the payroll? Some of it is hilarious. But the refs seem to tolerate it.

But method acting skills aside, Spain was awesome. A single goal was scored against them in 8 games.

I was real happy that Belgium player got sent off. They react that way because if they didn't the fouler would get away. Remember there's no pads like in American football and if you ever seen how bad football used to be.

As a lifelong tennis girl who also binged this World Cup, I felt the same about the theatrics 😂. The flopping and time-wasting are easily the worst part for American viewers, especially if you’re used to continuous play like in tennis or the NFL.

Spain, though… wow. That defensive structure was beautiful. Conceding once in eight games is insane at this level. Their positional discipline, pressing triggers, and calmness under pressure were masterclass.

If soccer wants more US fans, cutting down on the drama and enforcing stricter rules on simulation would help a lot. The quality of play is already there.
