Congress has come back from vacation to vote on the Protect College Sports Act. It is a bi-partisan bill that even President Trump supports.
Congress could not get together to pass the SAVE America Act but it's all hands on deck to get this ridiculous bill passed. The whole thing is a big money grab.
Colleges should not be paying students to play sports. Give them a free ride and if they do not like it, go someplace else. Colleges do not even pretend to require any academic participation from it's athletes anymore. As long as they win the "student" does not even have to be able to read the diploma that they are given at the end.
I think that congress has better things to do than to get involved in college sports.

I think college sports should remain unpaid. I have a number of friends who ignore pro sports and only watch college because, in their opinions, the sports are still untainted by greed. Maybe less tainted, but it’s absolutely certain that the game changes when the players are paid and it changes more so when the team owners start making millions.
The money is being made. These kids who are potentially destroying their bodies for the profit of their universities should be compensated. Especially since, as you noted, the kids are not getting the education that they were promised either. College sports is functionally a recruitment league for pro sports. Not everyone goes into the pros, but they incur a great deal of physical damage anyway. If they don’t at least have access to endorsements, that the universities should get no part of, then they’re staring down the barrel of decades of costly medical treatments and little to no money to cover it.
College sports is treated a lot like the military. They expect talented athletes to serve their skool out of “loyalty”. Meanwhile, someone else is making big bank off their achievements. When it’s all said and done, they’re all but forgotten. I think people deserve better.

Something to think about id that the top 10 college stadiums in America dwarf the majority of the largest stadiums in Europe where professionals sports play. For instance Wembley in England has 90,000 capacity vs the Rose bowl number 10 largest college stadium has a capacity of 90,000.
So obviously the money is being made. So if they are making that money and college athletes are expected to perform like professional athletes then maybe they should get a cut. Take the bozz, by the time he went professional his body was wrecked.
So either athletes get a fair cut for competing or colleges should be forbid from making money from college sports.

I was against the idea of all these college and even high-school players to be allowed to monetize their stuff but, IT IS TRICKY...
yes, I know that it is more fair that they do get their cut from all the big business college sports is... that's not the issue I have with
the one thing I have an issue with is how they do it... because there's A LOT of college people in sports making "content" which is content that has little or nothing to do with the sport and it's more about gambling, selling stuff and "being sexy" to gain follows, like and sponsorships out of the sport and that... seems problematic to me
this new deal or whatever it is, I am not familiar with it yet... but in general, all sports everywhere are on the way to hell

That is hard to answer. In general I don't. I got to a D1 school so it is a major part of campus life. So I have learned to like it and cheer our team on.
I go to maybe two football games a year when tickets are cheap towards the beginning of the season. We have a competitive division so tickets soar for the big name teams.
Those games we usually have a little get together in someone's dorm room and have a good time. I'd call myself 50/50 fan. Fair weather, at best.
Well, some college sports can be quite interesting, especially if you are participating (or some of your friends on the college) - in my personal experience.
On the other hand, college sports serves as a role model to many people.
I prefer most college sports over professional sports, especially team sports.
Pro sports are too predictable, and many teams rely on one or two star players.
In college sports, players play as a team, and upsets are common.

The University of Miami quarterback is being paid millions of dollars almost like NFL salary just for one year. We are ranked number 4 in the country

If you did not go to the school, why should you care about it. ? I dated a girl who went to a Big 8 school. she took me to a game and as we walked across the parking lot, there was a big parking lot with motorhomes. They were there for the weekend. Most of the motorhomes were red and white, the school;s colors. this was over 30 years ago and I still don;t get it.

Maybe your parents went there it’s your city your hometown your people so that’s why you have to support them just like you would support the Miami Dolphins NFL

For example you live in Miami the Miami Dolphins are your hometown team who else is gonna support them it doesn’t mean you have to play for the Dolphins to support your team or work for them. What do you think a fan base is your hometown city for the team.
Former athlete that played football, they support their home city, if the Miami Dolphins made their money off of people who worked in the organization they would go bankrupt in a heartbeat. The city of Miami supports them most people that live here love the dolphins 🐬
