Well, I think that just comes down to how fast technology becomes obsolete. Just because you CAN get a new model doesn't mean you HAVE to - I grew up with outdated video games for this very reason. We'd always be an entire generation behind because we just couldn't afford the new stuff. My family just bought a used Wii I lol

It's really just preference. An iPhone 3 is leagues better than older smartphones but people see it as useless now just because there's so much better. It's the classic consumer trap.

I wonder how many guys are searching for IR pass filters. You can check if a cam is suitable by pointing an IR tv remote at it and holding a button down. If you can see the flashing IR LED on the cam viewfinder, it is suitable for this.
