Can People Use Their Cell Phones While They Are Driving In Your Country?

In the US that's all state law. I know it's illegal in a lot of states, but I don't know about all. I also get the impression that the enforcemnt varies considerably.
I'm pretty sure it's illegal in my state, but it's extremely common to see people doing it. Usually they are doing something that I already known they're using the phone before I even look.
Maybe after some of these people get thrown in prison for vehicular homicide, then people will get a clue that they aren't supposed to do it for real.
My neighbor is REALLY bad at it, to the point where I almost don't even like riding with her. I remember a time when she almost missed turning on our own street. Then when she realized it, she was almost too far past the street to turn. She suddenly turned in front of someone who had to hit the brakes. Then when she got around the corner she stayed on the phone the rest of the way home. The close call didn't even phase her.

People in my part of the USA cannot legally use cell phone for voice, text, or browsing, while operating a vehicle. Any visual distraction in the front seat is illegal. That's why the kid-lets have to watch their movies in the back seat only.
From a physical standpoint, yes, people can. As said, it is a ticket-able offense at minimum, and will enhance, or increase, the amount of penalty if found to be in use at the time of the incident. The legal opinion here is that it is dangerous to the people outside the vehicle, the passengers in the vehicle, and the driver.
Even in areas where such activity is legal (though those are falling a way rapidly) the activity is discouraged, and will enhance any penalties and insurance fees, and reduce the amount of any settlements (due to shared liability/guilt laws).
Best approach: Turn off the daggum phone while driving!

I'm in the US and while it's illegal, it certainly isn't enforced enough. Unfortunately, a lot of people have died or sustained horrible injuries as a result of texting and driving. People still don't take it seriously enough and believe that they're better drivers than everyone else and can handle it too, until they end up killing someone because of it.
If you have the phone in your hand or talking via handsfree, you get your driving licence and licence plates confiscated for 2 months.
It is only allowed to make a call if the phone is on a base and the call is on speaker.
♥️♥️♥️
In the USA it's illegal but many do it's hard for cops to prove with a simple traffic stop. The only time they will subpeona phone records and confiscate the phone is if there was an accident.
♥️♥️♥️
In New York State it's now illegal to walk and ride a bicycle while using a cell phone.
OMFG whattttt. Thanks for sharing that. ♥️
Yeah, again nobody in my area has received a ticket unless an accident has occured.
Yes, but no.
In Austin, TX it is against the law. Same in Utah, it is against the law.
However, in different states and cities it's allowed

It's illegal, but people still do it anyway
Illegal is Macedonia, but people do use them. However there are days when the police are more common on the streets and if they see you, the penalty is up to €150, which for some people is like half their salary. We still don't have many artificial radars and cameras on the streets, so many things like this just slip by. And hence, the people are not afraid.
That's crazy 🤯. Thanks for the post!!! Very helpful ♥️
I don't think it should be done as it's unsafe. So those that do need to have Bluetooth in their cars.
Also for those places that have a ban on cellphone use while driving that seems to be exempt for be police and other law enforcement agencies.
I don't think they should be exempt as cellphone use while driving is still dangerous there is no special training for cops to use their cellphone or laptop while driving infact it's more dangerous when they do it. Dangerous is dangerous weather it's a citizen or a police officer.
They never should... matter of fact I am encouraging the idea of carrying out some type of protocol to disable cell phones while in the drivers seat... any other occupant can do as they wish but it is likely to never happen since a lot of older vehicles on the road are still allowed in the US... my idea is mechanical, with no data collecting or carrier tower tampering or invasion of privacy... which is what all newer features of vehicles tend to have

It's legal if it's hands free, but to actually take a call on a phone, no, and it's been illegal for quite a long time, now. Obviously it still happens.
♥️♥️♥️
Not uniform across the US. Different states have different laws. Most moving to allowing ONLY in hands free mode. (Which does not stop police, and fire and EMT personnel from speeding in and out of traffic using their phones and computers.)
♥️♥️♥️
EU, Lithuania - illegal, but people still use. I guess thats our era problem everywhere. :/
Thanks for sharing the country. ♥️♥️♥️
It's a traffic offence in my country and people have to pay fine for that. And doing this repeatedly in a short period can result in ban of driver's license. But nowadays there are Apple carplay and android auto so that you can connect your to the car's infotainment system and use it. And others use Bluetooth headphones or smart watch's. So People rarely hold phones and talk or chat and police also rarely catch such offender's.
My city has very busy roads and using phones while driving as for that matter any distraction can result in accidents but people still do it.
No but they do I'm a truck driver.
I looked over 1 daughter and saw a man with his feet up on the dash and texting so please be aware of the dumb asses out there
Thanks for sharing ♥️
Day not daughter lol
🌸💜🌸
I see people texting all the time, it makes me so nervous. I swear, any time I notice someone driving erratically, I look over and they have a phone in their hand. I see it all the time on the highway.
As a truck driver if you get caught texting you can kiss your license good by if you get in a reck you go to jail
I think it should be that way for everyone, honestly. Too many people think the laws don't apply to them or that they're good enough drivers that they don't have to worry about it, until they get someone killed and then it's too late.
Yes it should be
Nope. But dumb self-centered people
do it anyways.
🤦🤦🤦
It varies by state. But here it is illegal unless hands-free - fortunately my car has a build-in microphone that connects with bluetooth.
🌸💜🌸
Oh hell no! The fine is $360 and if you get caught again it's double!!
Thanks for replying 🌸💜🌸
Can? Yes.
Do? Yes.
Should? Only in heavy traffic jams.
May? No.
😭😭😭
Nope and you shouldn't be allowed too. It gets people killed.
FACTS 💯
I don’t know because I don’t live in America sorry😂🙈😬
Lol 😆
😂😅😬
It is illegal in Italy but people do it all the time. So bad.
Thanks for responding and sharing the country. I appreciate it. ♥️
In Canada we have a distracted driving law. It's not technically specific to cell phones, but reading between the lines that's definitely what it's meant for.
It's illegaland people can get tickets if they get caught.
Thanks for sharing 🌸💜🌸
Morally: NOOOO
Legally: No one care about law
Personally: how can anyone pull off this stunt without dying!!!
🌸💜🌸
No. You need to have a hands free kit installed in the vehicle.
The car in the picture is a 1989 Mercedes Benz (W124-model). The instrument cluster gave it away.
Technically, anyone can do it, anywhere in the world as long as they manage to not go under the wheels of a semi🤷
In certain states, no. In my country, it's hands free only.
Here, they can if they're stopped. But it's still annoying when they do that because I have to beep at them to get their attention to the fact that we have a green light.
they do, but they shouldn't, if only it were more reinforced by the law
♥️♥️♥️
I mean we can DO whatever we want... is it legal? No🤷♀️
Nah you get a big ass fine in Canada. People still do it though
Thanks for sharing. And for listing the country. ♥️
Yes they use them where i live but i do think
they should be allowed for emergency purposes
only.
Any country that thinks it should be legal needs to hit the road. lol
Where I'm from it can lead to arrest and license revocation.
No you get a ticket in my area if caught.
♥️♥️♥️
❤️❤️❤️❤️
No it's illegal (unless it's hands free) and I'm glad that it is. So many innocent lives are lost because of distracted driving.
Of course they can. I'm just waiting for a fuel tank they crash into for some very few seconds of instagram.
Yes, they can. But it usually results in death/injury or a fine.
Not unless they want a huge fine!
Thanks for sharing ♥️
This question is rude, for those who get hit or killed when someone drives their car wherever in the world, don’t use your phone when driving.
It is not the question that is "Rude", it is the implication!
Agreed
I don't find the question rude, but I agree, people need to put their phones down.
No most states have banned it unless you have certain jobs like cops or EMTs.
No, and they shouldn't be
🌸💜🌸
