“This person is unavailable on messenger”?

So on Facebook. I know when someone blocks you, it says that but their photo comes out.

But what if they’re profile is active. But on their messenger, it says “this person is unavailable on messenger” but there’s no photo. Like the photo from their profile doesn’t show up. It’s that grey outline of a person that shows when someone has deactivated it, yet their profile is up. Is that weird, why is it showing that?

It's possible the person trying to message them is blocked on messenger. They can still see their profile because they haven't been blocked from the facebook profile, just messenger only.

It means they either blocked you, ended all communication or deactivated your account
