When you gave short replies to the last person you did it to in dms or texting it was because of what?

this is kind of an insecurity i have over the internet. unless the person explains why they give short replies i tend to feel like im annoying or bothering the person and they are subtly trying to tell me to go away without saying it outright.

but if most of the time its just because they're busy.. it can help me overcome it

I'm simply not the texting type of person. I'm not even good at texting my guy and he knows it.

The problems are: 1. I am busy a lot of the time. 2. I tend to think a lot when I want to express myself with written words. I write, think, erase, and rewrite, and even though I do it fast, it takes away the smoothness and flow of a chat.
3. I like hearing a person's voice if/when I want to chat with him or her intimately, even if it is about the usual every day things. My written sentences are very cold and dry. It's the way I developed my 'voice'. But in the real world I'm warmer and friendler.

So for those reasons I always prefer phone or video chat. I always send my guy voices when we message on Telegram or other apps. They just make communication easier for me.

Those facts + I am not on sites like this one to make friends = Awkward chats that end up boring and dead.

I usually do that when I don't find a lot of value in messaging the person. Most times it's because I find them boring or annoying. But rarely if ever because of business.

I don't like to text when I'm busy so I'll just wait until I'm not busy to send the messages. I'm an attention to detail kinda guy so (assuming I like them & find them interesting) it bothers me if I can't fully focus on the conversation.

Because the other person gave short replies themselves. Maybe it's me being self entered but I usually get very envolved in my messages but when I get a simple "lol" for something I think could provide some opinion oin their reply, I don't know how to continue.

Eventually I try to make more complex questions, otherwise its a loop of lols and emojis.

I'm a chat killer. I prefer face-to-face talk and all my friends know that. Most of the time they hold information until we meet. When we meet, we speak for hours, and sometimes a chatty friend sends messages through their phone and disrupts our conversation. They are give the phone to me, I kill the chat then we continue non-stop talking.

It was for a different reason. I was sleepy and annoyed but I didn't want to tell that I needed to sleep.
You shouldn't be that insecure, I'm sure there are many people on this site who enjoy talking to you. :)

Yeah it was because they were kind of annoying and spamming everyday about things I wasn't interested in so I replied like "oh nice", "cool". To not be rude but also hinting I'm not really interested.

It was not appropriate at least with this person. He was just excited about something and wanted an outlet, I didn't want to cut that outlet. I do that sometimes too even if I know the other person probably doesn't care as much. I get over excited and spam wall of text and they give short answers and usually stop answering at some point. That's actually what I did with this person too.

The short answers gives them green light to say what's on their mind without adding more fuel to it. So at some point they run out of gas because you didn't give them anything back they can comment on, but they still feel satisfied they got that out of their system.

But also this depends on the person. For example one time when I was chatting with a girl I was writing wall of text and she'd only give short answers so I felt like I'm clearly talking too much and I started to write less and she asked did I lose interest because I'm not talking that much anymore.

I'm not trying to be callous. You probably deep down know that I'm not like that.
But your poll is excruciatingly detailed. Yes, all the possible reasons are there. But the reasons don't matter so much. Or the reasons vary. I know that's why you said "the last person..." but I'm telling you - you would be better off if you learned how to quell your fixations, rather than looking for that magical answer that would lay your mind at ease.
You need to break the cycle of overthinking. Cannabis is extremely successful in doing that.
