True or false: You have used short replies to people through texts/dms in hopes to get the other person to give up talking to you before.

I don’t really talk to people in DM on here, so I never really get to that point.
In my real life, when I’m texting with a friend or someone, it’s just understood that we’re all busy people and sometime messages are purposeful instead of simply to make conversation. We never really conclude a text. Sometimes I reply back in the morning.
In the case of the picture that you used here, I would totally take it as a sign that the person isn’t interested. She gives nothing back to the conversation. Just seems like a courtesy reply.
I don’t usually do that unless I am not interested to continue the convo. I have never really encountered anyone like that on chat except if they want to end the conversation before going to bed or leaving somewhere. You remind me of this dude I know from gag long time ago, he would do that if it was not a sex topic xD
lol sounds like a loser :P
lol needs a new hobby
no. I'm a chatty SOB. I've had it happen back to me though. lmao. I could care less. I have had people one word message me where I thought they were disinterested but then they totally surprise me.
it's hard to read people through text so I don't get too worked up about it
false...
I'm a grown up and I don't like to play games... if I ever didn't feel like having a conversation, I just explain the other person, that... and maybe we try some other time
this rarely happens though... lol

I keep my replies short to give the message that I want you to start a new topic to converse on. I'm very straight forward so I don't feel like talking then I say that I'm not in the mood instead of making excuses. I make my replies as short and meaningful as possible because I don't want other person to get bored.
Oh yeah.
In real life conversations you can say "sorry, I gotta go" and then never bump into that person again. When you say that in text they just say "okay" and then follow you around until you aren't busy.
well you can't just say 'sorry i gotta go' through text too?
That's what I'm saying; if you tell someone over text that you have to go, they're just going to message you later. You never actually "leave" the conversation, just put a pin in it.
ok then you can just block them right?
Yeah, but I'd rather them take the hint on their own than block them because if I jump straight to blocking then I'M the asshole
you can give them one hint i suppose. but after you are definitely not the asshole despite how the other guy may feel about it
False. Long replies are just as efficient, if not better. Nowadays people are so lazy and hate reading and/or replying to my long ass texts or messages-
Seriously, I've sent messages as long as short stories, it runs [lazy] people off.
Sad, but hey, I'm good with it
I try multiple things myself. I'll try humor to deflect people from messaging and if that doesn't work I just try to make myself as boring as possible and give a lot of one word answers. You'll know id I'm engaged in a conversation or not lol
lol yes i do
a little ;)
especially with game stuff :P
This is unlikely for me, but usually I try to keep conversations going.
I've been known to even say, "well now that we have nothing to talk about, any idea's on keeping the conversation going, or should we end it?"
mind if i dm you sometime. you're quite interesting :)
Sure go for it, I'm not the fastest as responses, especially on days like today where I'm pretty swamped with work.
I just say you have to go. Communication generally makes things easier.
you say they have to go
like "ok you gotta go dude" or something like that?
“I have to go.” Then I will reply to anything missed later. 😎
A, B, and C. Just depends. A and C are equally as common a reason for doing this.
But mostly I try not to start conversations, or reply, until I have the time and focus to have a conversation.
so why not just not reply at all all the time if you're not into it?
not getting a reply does suck yes and i'd much rather get one simple explanation for why they don't wish to continue talking to me but one word answers can still give the impression you still wanna talk to them for people.
yeah cause it sends a much clearer message to me. even if it sucks
eh i disagree sorry.
i just hate ambiguity
yeah i just like to understand things better.
Yes. Kinda shows I'm not interested. But sometimes I just feel like there's nothing more to say.
Is it on purpose though?
Not to the point of replying short so they will stop talking because I'd just stop replying if I didn't want to talk but more like replying short because the conversation needs much more substance to get me to reply more.
I don't know if that makes any sense
Yeah makes sense. I try ti make mine interesting but obviously there will be lull moments
It varies really, I can use one words or a full detailed reply about decorating the living room.
but it wasn't intentional? you just do it sometimes?
Oh I can do it intentionally. However usually I just tell someone straight out, I can be a bit direct
Depends how I feel at that moment.
Yeah I have done it to creeps online but now i just don’t answer them
good. its better that way. some people just don't get it
I've used this tactic before tbh, didn't really work so I just stopped replying
Right cause its still a bit ambiguous giving short replies. Ignoring is more definitive
I'm guilty of that, or simply sending emoji replies. At a certain point I just don't reply at all, but blocking someone isn't my thing unless they are sending endless text walls or being negative.
True I have given short replies to people so they get the message that I don't want to talk to them
don't you feel like just leaving is better though? some people just don't get the hint well
@Still-alive Yes leaving would be much better
ok so why not do that instead?
No. I just stop talking to them if I don't want to talk. If they ask why I stopped talking, I tell them I don't want to talk to them anymore.
Yes I've done that before but they still don't get it. In that case I either stop replying or I block them.
I am a straight person and if i dont like someone i just will not talk to them.
Replying in short statements is something stupid and fake in my opinion
Nope. I tend to just ignore if I don’t want to talk to someone. I don’t even respond.
yes i have assuming its a polite way of telling them no
Anyone who does that is a little bitch who doesn't have the stomach to just tell someone straight out that they don't want to talk anymore.
Totally false, I just put my phone in airplane mode and pretend my battery died.
Sometimes I give short replies but only rarely does it mean that I’m done talking
Yes, loved ones know this my way of saying “im don’t talking.”
I've done this before.
don't you feel like just leaving is better though? some people just don't get the hint well
hmm ok. but you don't feel comfortable just saying 'hey you know im not interested talking anymore sorry.'
ok. if they get ugly about it you can just block them. but for me personally i appreciate the honesty more then getting flat out ignored. i respect it
Sometimes my replies are just short.
but have you ever done this intentionally before?
Not really, I just stop texting and might pick it up the next day or two when I have time again... maybe a few hours, just whenever.
Yes. Or I just take forever to reply
what to you is 'forever'?
lol wow i would think a month would be enough for a person to get the hint
did he keep trying to sext you or something?
unsolicited i take it? lol
these weridos never learn
No I simply take ages to reply or don't at all.
what to you is 'ages'?
ok.
:p
False if I don't wanna talk to someone I tell them
ill keep talking to ya ;)
No. I’m more blunt than that.
I just say bye.
bai..
If I don't want to talk I just won't reply.
Of course not... 👀
ok
:P
False. I'm not a lazy, entitled, immature woman
Yes.
Yes.
As weird as it sound, a "no reply" from me it's actually a good sign, concerning questions both in the professional and personal life - as I get dozens of emails, texts and WhatsApps, I can't reply to everyone - the lack of a reply with the read tick means I've read the message and silently approve of what I got asked/proposed.
yup.
Yes, many times
so why not just not reply at all all the time if you're not into it?
I do that to sometimes but it feels rude
*too
well its still too ambiguous that just ignoring or giving a small statement that you don't wanna talk anymore.
Sometimes I do that
No..
