Yes, as long your router is off. Better solution is to change your security protocol to WPA2-PSK/AES with strong password or to use MAC filter like some people mentioned.

WPA2-PSK/AES is WiFi communication encryption method but it needs a strong password that can't be bruteforced.
MAC address filter works but it's possible to fake MAC addresses of your devices.

There is an option to use 5Ghz Band and to disable 2,4 Ghz. However your router and wifi devices need to support this standard.
5GHz has more bandwidth and it's faster, but those radio waves get easier absorbed by walls and moisture in the air and your router range will decrease, what is desired in your case.

In addition to changing your WiFi password your router might have MAC FILTERING on it & if you do turn it on.

When your turn on MAC FILTERING any device that wants to access your network has to be approved & when you turn on MAC filtering you have to type in the Mac addresses to the devices you want to authorize network access to.

As for me when I leave the house I turn my network off as well & I also have a schedule setup where it goes into sleep mode during the hours I sleep.

I downloaded ‘Fing’ from the App Store, it’s a network scanner and it’s free. And it tells you straight away if anyone else is connected to your router. If there is you can disable it there and then, also like everyone else on here as mentioned, make sure you have a password in place.

Technically yes, but depending on where you are in the world and the type of internet you get (ADSL, FTTC or Full Fibre) it might cause issues with the line itself and affect your speed, as to the network it will look like there is a stability issue.

Better to follow the advice of either changing your WiFi Password, possibly hiding the network once you're connected to it (so they can't find it again), or if your able, blocking their devices from being able to access using MAC filtering.

This will work but you should be using WPA2 and setting up a password. You will not have to keep unplugging your router.

Also, you could set an invisible WiFi network.
