What would you do if you didn't have any internet access?

This is my situation right now. I just moved. I can only go online when I'm at work. My weekend SUCKED because there's jack-all to do where I live (Suwon) anyway, plus I was too tired to go to Seoul after just moving and not being fully unpacked. So I did was sleep all day long Sunday. I could've gone out to eat, but I'm about to do bariatric surgery soon, and didn't want to risk it. So literally all I did was sleep... From Sunday through Monday. I would usually write stuff or do creative projects, but it's all on Google Docs. Not having internet sucked worse than I imaged.

Plus, due to how utterly IDIOTIC and corrupt Korea is regarding certain things, they'd want me to sign up for a cell phone number in order to get a new internet package, due to all the phone companies (the two major ones, KT and SK) being in bed with the government. Yes, they're making it mandatory to have KT or SK phone service just to get internet, even though the phone plans are useless and expensive as f*ck (89,000 won, or $89, a month for a useless-ass phone number, just because the phone companies and government are corrupt like that).

I have refused to get a number up until now because I hate how corrupt the phone/government system is over here, and getting one is just as bad as getting a COVID vaccine I don't need. But at this point, I may have to. I don't know how much longer I can go, bored at home. Like I said, the area I'm in sucks and there's nothing around there, either. I can only be on GAG and do other stuff here in the building after work is done.

That really sucks, MC, especially the phone thing.

Not having internet access would change my life completely. Since I've been retired, I'm on the internet most of the day. I really enjoy sitting on my sofa, or outside when it's nice, or in my car next to the house, with my laptop while I smoke my pipe. I find endless entertainment and information on-line. Without it, I would know nothing about the reality of things that are happening and would be just like the uninformed robots who get all their information from msm. I'd lose contact with friends and things that are happening locally.

I might have to sign up for satellite TV service, but I fucking hate TV. I'd have to invest in movies on DVD. I'd check books on CD and DVDs out of the library, but that would be inconvenient and expensive with gas prices these days, because the library is 20 miles away. I already read a lot of books, but I'd have to buy lots more.

I really hate being dependent on technology and being at the mercy of the energy company and tech giants, but I do LOVE my laptop and internet.

All phone companies are monitored by the gov, Snowden been exposed this. I just use a different name to register my phones here and i use it. You could just use a VPN for internet searches or a proxy if your worried about what you search is being looked at.

Oo boy just yesterday I saw a YouTube video about how terrible it is to work at private schools (hagwons) as a foreigner who isn't a white male... and actually they even treat their Korean (at least the female, not sure about males) in a way Westerners would would understand.

Well once in a while my neighborhood's power is outed. When that happens it is usually evening so I do thinking games with someone, on pen and paper or memory... in my country, nobody is feels to old to play "bored games" when there is nothingbetter to do. Boy girl animal, place, thing,
If I was alone... hmm what would I do? If I had duties that require light then I would improvise with lamps

But... for sure I would get a number, why not? Add data to it... can't you use a phone number from another country?

Really, the Korean "ideal" of an English speaker is an attractive white American/Canadian woman under the age of 25. Even white males have it hard if they're not handsome like Tom Cruise and over 5'11"/180 cm. They're more about hiring "models" than educators because that's just the way it is. However, my academy is different and pretty caring towards me, even if I'm the total opposite of the Emma Stone or Amanda Seyfried types most academies look to hire.

i'd just draw and hang out with my dog. but i couldn't last like that for too long because that's boring if that's all you do all day. it's not like i have many other options though

That's scary. We live in the middle of nowhere and my internet is my connection to the world outside my family. If it was off, I'd probably create messages and save them for later. Othewise, I'd probably be curled up with a book in my bed or in front of the fireplace or, if it was warm, on the porch!

Goodluck on your upcoming surgery. When my internet goes out, i get into movies with a dvd player, or games, paint stuff like that. If it is warm I go outside right now its 49 degrees in April, ehhh to that

I've been known to go days without it, even when camping I go a week or so but I am doing other things. I guess I'd have to focus on the other things more, like when I am camping.

More texting, phone calls or whatever... getting out more. It would suck to be on lockdown though without it.

Since I'm rural I could even go outside and count sheep. I know fun right? haha... but without it I would have to drive into the city to go to work anyways.

I would take out my Kindle reader and read few ebooks that I would buy at work. Or take out some of my CDs to listen to music.

Where I go on vacation we do not have cable or internet. I might do to the library once a week to check my email.

Go outside, download everything you want to watch/listen to while you're somewhere with internet, read, get into HAM radio, start creating.

That's what I do now. Download about six hours worth of YouTube videos on a flash drive while at work, to watch at home later.

I recently got knapping tools so I could try to make arrowheads.
I have a bow & could practice archery.
