If they developed human level sentience then in general yes. However thats hypothetical asf because logically its not possible to develop human level sentience (i literally worked as an ai developer).
Back to the hypothetical scenario its not the same as a human per se since a robot would consist of say a computer and other parts that were owned property before its "birth". Unlike a human baby its made of cells that could not have been "owned" in the way i own my desktop computer. So if i made it sentient on purpose do i owe it my property? Or does it owe me a debt? What if it becomes sentient by accident? Has it stolen property from me? Interesting questions. I think it would owe its creator a debt that a human birth does not and thus "slavery" would be justified for a sentient robot ai.
There won't be such robots in our lifetime, and possibly never. Why would anyone want to create a robot with feelings? How could that even be done? Humans (and other animals) have feelings because we are mortal. Our time and our health are precious. Some losses cannot be recovered.
There aren't any robots with human-level intelligence and/or sentience though, so your question is moot.
If they developed human level sentience, then no, it would not be ethical to me.

Someone has been watching I-Robot lately.
My view though is, is there a heart beating? If not then yes it is ethical.
I've watched a few clips years ago, but that's it; I don't think I've watched the whole movie before.
No because they don't mind. It has taken billions of generations for our emotions to evolve. Regardless, of how intelligent and aware they are, the emotions to care will not be acquired over a few generations or even over a few hundred generations. Perhaps in time after many thousands of generation but until then, like any machine, they will just follow their programming and will not feel pain, happiness, and sorrow.
Efficient but it's gonna get lots of people jobless. But I think it would be a great development for our society if it happens slowly and people slowly adjust to that. The thing that needs to be changed the most is our education which had been outdated for centuries.
I don't know. Can they feel pain? Can they act 100% indistinguable from humans? Do they have their own wants and needs? Maybe it's not slavery if you pay them like, 50 cents an hour or something.
If they have no thirst or hunger but only calculators, arms and legs then all they'd want is work and think.
Sentient beings deserve the right of self determination, within the confines of the law and public good.
If this game doesn’t convince you it’s wrong, nothing will.
The question won't be relevant until we have said robots, which we currently do not. We're not even close. We can simulate "AI", but it's not really AI. It is still extremely limited in its scope and ability to think. It can only think about what it has been programmed to think. Given current technological trends, I'll be surprised if we ever get AI working. At least in our life times.
yes because even with human intelligence they don't have our values, pain receptors, or needs.
but also it is unethical to build robots of our intelligence anyways
I say yes. Most people are treated like robots at jobs they do not like anyway.
That's not a very smart idea cause people like me would form a militia and take over blocks, the only thing stopping me at that point is money and that's a very unsafe barrier lol
No it’s not ethical. Then again big companies use unethical methods to make money all the time so go for it bro
No. I mean I would even see it as necessary in any way. What kind of task do you need an AI with the ability to be aware and question it’s existence?
They're machines, not anthropomorphic beings with emotional intelligence.
I'll answer this IF AI ever reaches that level. My personal opinion is it never will.

No, to me thats enslavement
Sure. I use Excel to do math for me at my job.
"Open the pod bay doors, Hal".
It's still slavery, even if they're not black.
I want a robot for home security
