Do noisecancelling headphones block door slamming?

What kind of noise do they block?

They usually just attempt to cancel out ambient noise. But depending on the seal, it could knock down the shrill of the door slam pretty well. But you'll still be able to hear it.

If you want full isolation, then I'd look into specifically "earphones." Like iems. You'll still be able to hear the noises around you with nothing playing. But it will be severely dampened. And if you're playing music, it will be hard to hear your surroundings unless they're extremely loud &/or close to you.

I have hyperacusis & when my main goal is to block out noise, I pick the iems/earphones. Either that or I put the "happy ears" earplugs in.

If they block noise then by default they are blocking sound, therefore, are in opposition to hearing👂 what it is you are listening for

Some noise blockers, headphones will not work effectively on high frequency or transient sounds, that's why I am asking this. What's the general experience.

My headphones block out almost any type of background noise. Screaming at me sounds like a faint whisper.
