Is this Biden's fault? A bit, but he's far from the primary person responsible. The responsibility is largely the US government over the last 40 years, which ENCOURAGED (not just allowed, but structured rules and tax codes and EPA regulation and so on) that strongly encouraged companies to move manufacturing off-shore - which makes things VERY susceptible to supply-chain disruption.

No one could SPECIFICALLY predict COVID, but *some* kind of major supply-chain disruption was inevitable. There were plenty of ways it could have come about: fuel disruptions, war, pandemic, etc. But people let themselves believe that "just in time"/no inventory manufacturing and support would always "just work." Clearly COVID showed the lie of this - and that's with Herculean efforts to solve problems (and some efforts to erect needless barriers too).

I think this tweet was making a more general statement that the Left tends to put more of these barriers to business in place in the US and to enact laws that allow and encourage off-shoring - but I think that the Right needs to take accountability for their own role, because plenty of lawmakers on the right have voted right along with the Left to enact those laws and rules. There's PLENTY of blame to go around for everyone. And, yeah, there are a handful on the Right who have really good records about this, but there are far too many who have lousy voting records and so in my opinion this isn't the best issue for anyone on the Right to try to make political hay about (except, perhaps, Trump, who, unlike most, didn't spend decades in Washington passing such laws).

And as for the replies about buying a new dishwasher, that's not a reasonable solution. If your dishwasher has a broken $15 part, is it reasonable to expect someone to accept a "buy a new one" solution when a new dishwasher is at least $500 and many are $800 and up. That's like buying a new car because your tire had a blow-out - it's an unreasonable expectation.

People need to understand that outsourcing nearly all manufacturing overseas is a BAD idea. IN PARTICULAR, there are very strategically important things, such as microprocessors and cars and many industrial parts (power distribution transformers, for example) that we used to make here but now we buy from China. When you can't get them anymore, for whatever reason, it means that end-users could go without power for weeks or months or even longer, or that new construction could be completely halted (and we have a major housing shortage).

BOTH sides of the isle has a poor record in this area, and Americans should not tolerate it, ESPECIALLY for strategic items. Globalism has its place, but there are some things that REALLY need to be protected. I'm far less worried about a dishwasher part than I am about things that can take down fighter jets or power plants or the Internet.

Presidents can to a certain degree influence the direction of the country. Trump didn't really get to influence anything aside from twitter as he was tied up in court for most of his presidency. Clinton changed the narrative of gays in the military, Obama got affordable care act passed, Bush showed us how much connections matter.

If the maytag man was elected president, then 100% I'd be expecting my stove, oven, refrigerator, washer, and dryer to work for 40+ years.

On a serious note I feel sorry for democrats today. They're trying so hard and pushing so extreme, but it's going to brand progressives as a whole with the tag as extreme leftists for an entire generation. I'm not a big fan of right or left, more libertarian, but the short term gains of the left now are going to be long term losses.

(Although to be fair, if you just bought a new dishwasher, I don't know, say 6 months ago, and it just broke, and GE told you that it could be upwards of a year to repair or replace it, for FREE under warranty…. Some A-hole on twitter telling you “there’s 250 available at Home Depot” is not exactly solace for a broke, working-class family who can’t even afford $5/gal gasoline, $4/gal for milk, almost $3 for a LOAF OF BREAD! Especially when you realize that last year, you neighbor got THEIR dishwasher replaced in just under 24hrs! Just sayin’)

It is the fault of Putin. He invaded Ukraine so that his soldiers could kill the citizens and steal their dishwashers. Obviously the shortage of dishwashers is Putin's fault. Although, a lot of the blame can be placed on Trump as it was his suggestion to Putin during one of their meetings that was not recorded.

Seriously people are getting so lazy or too busy to take care of their home. We don't have a dishwasher here. I clean the dishes and sometimes my sister does. Thank god I know to do households works and somewhat cooking to survive without being depended on technology or someone. I won't complain.
