What's this product registration I have to do for Microsoft Word?

Why is my computer telling me that I can't do anything on Microsoft Word unless I get it registered or licensed?

Microsoft wants to control your computer. Eventually, it will require you to only use approved software, downloaded from its store. No 3rd party stuff!

Shift to Linux. No crap with that. All free, too.

Office 365 or Office activation?

If it's office 365 then you need to buy a licence to use it. But you can use Libreoffice for free.

If it's activation then your old Office copy is no longer working.

Try open office. It's exactly like Microsoft Word and free
