Not necessarily "AI" ... but lots of so-called anarchists (like the Unabomber) have argued that the momentum of technology will destroy us. I don't really see that, except via climate change, but tech could solve that.

Just as an example, in the past 30 years, Category 3,4, and 5 hurricanes are twice as common as in the previous 30 years before that, and 23 of the 25 hottest years on record globally occurred in the past 25 years.
