Window 98 is far better
But what's better then any operating system
Linux
Its free, comes in thousands of versions, You can even make your own Linux OS for free
What is Linux? You may ask
Just like Windows, iOS, and Mac OS, Linux is an operating system. In fact, one of the most popular platforms on the planet, Android, is powered by the Linux operating system. An operating system is software that manages all of the hardware resources associated with your desktop or laptop. To put it simply, the operating system manages the communication between your software and your hardware. Without the operating system (OS), the software wouldn’t function.
From smartphones to cars, supercomputers and home appliances, home desktops to enterprise servers, the Linux operating system is everywhere.
Linux has been around since the mid-1990s and has since reached a user-base that spans the globe. Linux is actually everywhere: It’s in your phones, your thermostats, in your cars, refrigerators, Roku devices, and televisions. It also runs most of the Internet, all of the world’s top 500 supercomputers, and the world’s stock exchanges.
But besides being the platform of choice to run desktops, servers, and embedded systems across the globe, Linux is one of the most reliable, secure and worry-free operating systems available.
@userxvi not true, I can do everything I can do in Windows.
Only draw back if your into Windows based video games, sure there is the program called Wine, but that that has its Limitations.
If you really want to run Windows games on a Linux machine, best to use something like Virtual Box and Run Windows without installing the OS
It's all bullshit. But still more affordable than apple products.
Until now I found ''NO'' 'professional' Windows product to be worth it. All home editions since about the 90's gave me all I need; also professionally.
Imagine, you buy a car, and regularly each -say- two months they call you to come in for an... ''update'' :D
Ubuntu, like other distros, is totally free. As is all the softwar you will need.
Well Windows 11 only has 1 feature update per year instead of bi yearly like 10. And you can find many free software that works on Windows and Mac too like Blender, Da Vinci Resolve, WPS Office, and Visual Studio Code.
Windows 11 home. The pro version has stuff you may never use.
However, I do not use Microsoft OS's. Try Ubuntu Linux. Newish version 22-04 came out in April. You can try it from a live CD or USB key without actually installing it.
Correction! I have an off-line home brew running XP Pro. It runs old DOS software that no modern software will run correctly. Not even in Vbox.
Windows 7. The later versions of Windows are really, really bad.

I have an i7-7700t I bought for $290 two years ago, run Office 2010, Windows 7 - never missed a SINGLE "convenience" of later superficial Windows version (i. e. compared to Windows 98; 11 years on, Windows 7 has multi-core processor, SSD, bluetooth, USB - fundamental features that improve the computing experience. 13 years on, Windows 11 has a new "immersive" (whatever that means) color scheme, or some superficial bloated features that don't produce any noticeable improvement in my machine.
The more powerful processors seem to just compensate for bloat, as I have a 7.8 of 7.9 WEI score on a machine I paid less than $300 for & everything I click happens near instantly, never have slowdows, bottlenecks & the machine can take an new SSD, up to 32GB ram & do everything I need easily.
Pro has more features, but most average users are unlikely to notice them. I would suggest pro if you're training for some kind of IT job and need the extra features.
Windows 11. Linux is obviously way better than both of them, but most people have work and don't have the time to learn Linux, so I'd say the most simplest one is better the better one.
Very true, but Ubuntu is easy to learn.
But the thing is even with innovations to make Linux more compatible, many software still either don't work at all or have major issues. There are always open source alternatives to some of these software, but not every school or workplace will accept it nor will they always be superior. I'm glad that Valve introduced Proton and Wine, and the Steam Deck convinced many developers to port their games over. Aside from IT stuff, I don't think Linux really excels in anything over Windows and Apple besides freedom to modify one's OS.
@bingbongbangbung Apple and MS want to control what is on your machine. Apple phone apps. Only from Apple store, unless you are clever. Gonna be the same with MS. You will soon only be able to use MS approved software.
In all my years dealing with Ubuntu Linux, nothing I need has failed to work. It's all free, too.
You cannot compare the two, as they are very different operating systems.
There are many peripherals, chips and software that will not work with windows 11.
i'll stick with windows 10. cause windows 11 locks your physical machine to their operating system which i find terrible. might as well buy an apple computer if they keep doing that shit.
I prefer 7 but I've never gone past 8.1! I tried 10, once and didn't like it at all!! I've also heard that 11 is terrible!!
Pro. Why not just get the most feature complete version and call it a day?
I mean, you could just crack it
cracked OS is generally a bad idea as you won't be getting security updates which are more important than having an anti-virus. However there are 2 options
1. You can just install windows 10/11 and never activate it, there is no grace period like windows 7 had. You can just keep using it only you will have a water mark and be unable to change privacy settings and personalization settings
2. Buy a key from eBay, G2A, or other 3rd party places for a cheaper price (thats what I did)
Stick to Windows 10. Never upgrade your OS until at least 3 years after it was released. There are tons of bugs and the security is horrible.
Windows 11 home is for use at home, the pro version is for professionals
Pro if you are networking your PCs on a domain. Otherwise Home is sufficient.
Pro has sandbox (a handy tool i like to use) also I think on home you are required to use miscrosoft account and internet access to set it up
I'll continue to use Win 10 Home Premium until it's security updates are no longer supported by Microsoft
Windows 11 is shit
Isn't Windows 11 like 1 Window ago? 🤔
they have windows 11 pro?
windows 10
