Ever sent a message request on instagram before , does it work?

i noticed you can send a message request to someone your not following who has a private account on that site. it will appear in there messages as a request and they can see your profile and decide if they want to allow you to message them or not. they can also block you or delete the message

never sent one before and wonder if they'd work , a lot of people have private accounts i'm not following and some are hard to get accepted on so not sure if this be another option to get there attention.

anyone else ever sent one? did it work , did the other person read it or message back

Yes, they’re mostly accepted especially if the content of your message is of importance.
It makes no sense for someone to see your message and ignore it if it’s something important.

what if you normally talked to the person in real life , would it seem odd to send one out of the blue if you weren't following them?

Depends on context. What do you plan on sending the person? If it’s something to follow up on the date/meet up you had, you’d most likely get a reply

i used to talk to them a lot in person at there work but they went back to school so haven't seen them in a few weeks , not really about a specific convo we had just wondered what there up to

Then I say go for it, nothing weird about it. Drop them a text. Do note that it’s possible to miss out on texts if they’re under the requested section.

i know feel its the least weird way to try and get in touch with them , are you only allowed to send 1 ? message , obviously if they don't reply to the first one isn't much point i just wondered if i were to try again at a later date if this one didn't work

There’s no limit to the number of messages you can send. It just doesn’t go into their main inbox unless accepted

as long as they don't block you , i agree they should reply to a legitimate message , if they don't obviously something not as it seems with this person

i'll send something later , at least i have hope , first time since she left i've had any hope that i might be able to get through to her. never actually message her online before so not sure what to expect although doubt she'll be entirely surprised to hear from me

i sent a couple random ones to people of less importance but didn't hear back and doesn't seem to have had much impact although the account i'm using is new with little content so that might hurt my chances
