So in the past I’ve had two girls that I liked straight up ignore my request. My assumption is that they don’t like me romantically or platonically. It hurts but its fine whatever. The part that I don’t understand and super frustrating is that they still went out of their way to wave/say something to get my attention when seeing them in public. even when I would try to avoid contact. I’m not talking about a cordial hi when passing each other. Like huge waves across long distance or stopping me to have a mini conversation.
similar responses have said things like she think you are a creep or not interested which is fine but why go overboard the other way in person? a polite conservative hello in passing would be preferable to acting like your a long lost friend. Please help me understand why someone would do this. Thank you.

Just wanted to clarify that my question wasn’t asking whether I should hold out hope or move on. I’ve already moved on long ago and don’t have an Instagram account anymore. It was more to set up a scenario. I was more interested in opinions on why people would act so fake in person. My opinion lines up with the reply that said they do it for attention but I would like to hear other takes.
