That's all I heard on the news today. They didn't really elaborate. Other than Dr. Michio Kaku said it involved a bunch of lazers focused on a single point to create temperatures found in the core of a star. I'm no rocket scientist but how do they duplicate the pressure? 🤣

There are Tokamaks with substantial funds in EU and laser fusion labs in US. I'm sure in question controlled fusion happens much more than we can read in science news.
I think the main problem is the collect and transform fusion heat into electricity with a positive energy balance and availability of isotope fuels. Keeping the fusion alive seems to be not a problem anymore.
