How do you feel about Fusion energy?

Well, I'm a big fan of the sun, but we've got some serious problems in getting it to work here. We DID have that first energy-positive reaction a few months back, and that's an important step, but we're still a LONG way away from having practical fusion power be a mainstay.

What a lot of people forget is the insane amount of energy needed to kickstart the reaction in the first place- ironically, fission is probably still our best bet for that, at least for now.

they have been saying for a century that its abotu 30 years away. However there seems to be some real progress. Someone got it running for 7 minutes and got more electricity than they put into it. If that 7 minutes could be extended to permanent we could power the whole world.

It's feasible and there is no other way to get enough energy for steady increasing energy hunger. Imagine how many gigawatt hours are necessary for transportation or fertilizer production if we want to get rid of fossil fuels.

Gets some results now and then, but when it comes to scaling up and showing the big reveal... always disappoints.
