Why are most car designs boring?

I don't need to drive, but I saw a question about which demographic uses x type of car, and I got to thinking about how boring and ugly most cars look. Why?

Everything is about the Money. Margins and Returns define everything. It is a lot of money to design, rate, test, and manufacture a new vehicle. The numbers and revenue works out much better mass producing a range of something that already sells. This is why one never sees anything new. The headlight change was the last design change that was interesting on cars.

I miss the passion inventors and benefactors used to have.

Makes sense, still boring though.
