Is a 2018 smartphone old?

That is somewhat "Old" by today's standards. But what matters is how reliable it is. Does it do what you need? Do you ever worry about it? Do you really need new features that are not included in it? If you are doing just fine with it then there is no need to buy a new phone. I have a Pixel 4a from November, 2020. The battery is getting bad, but everything else works just fine. And I still have free unlimited backup to Google Photos which is my favorite part about it. So I'm gonna hang onto it.

Cool it's a fast smartphone it has a 13mp camera, android 9, HD plus screen which looks sharp and bright and it has a newer processor

An iphone would be considered a mid age. But an Android phone is kind of old for a power user.

My phone was from 2019 December, and it being from A series by Samsung, works like a charm till now. No heavy usage is there. Just the normal one. It is really amazing.

So, yes. It depends on the manufacturer and the smartphone itself, honestly.

That is a really amazing smartphone! I had A50s 6GB variant. I believe that any smartphone from the A series is a really amazing one. They get updates, software is optimized. Everything is really good.

Suppose, if you get a one year old samsung flagship at a crazy discount, just go for it. A flagship cannot even be put in the same league as other smartphones. It has its own league. It simply cannot be compared with anything else.

5 years is a bit old but if it still does the job it's not too old
If your carrier stops using 4G maybe it's getting too old if it doesn't have 5G

My Dad still had his Sprint Egg fold-up cell phone. I think it is 20 years old. My nephew is trying to take it apart and build a platform or do Something I don't understand so it works like a real cellphone... Nephew is working the COOOooooL Factor

I have a 2016 SE first generation. Does everything I need and although it cannot run the latest iOS it just received a security update on January 23. The battery is still at 94% life, so why get a new one?
