What year u saw the first smartphone?

The first I’ve seen in the wild were in the early 2000’s. With the various Palm, BlackBerry and PocketPC phones.

i was aware of them in the 90s. But really just saw them in computer magazines or trade shows.

Heck, I long hoped for a cellular Newton. During the long years of rumors about Apple making a phone. I figured it would be something like an updated Newton and much larger.

That idea is actually pretty old and been around since the early 90's. My grandpa worked in an auto-shop and I got to see a very old fashioned tablet that was used for diagnosing car problems. The first modern smartphone I saw was an iPhone that my professor at college used in 2010. I was sort of impressed, but when he told me the price tag I figured nobody would buy one until the price dropped. I underestimated people's ability to go into debt for stupid things.

Good question. I think it was a Galaxy S2. There was probably some I've seen before on TV, but it was the first I owned.
