Why do companies make it so difficult, so confusing, to close an email account?

I had a Microsoft email account, and trying to cancel it was like trying to navigate a complex maze! Unbelievably frustrating it was. Finally managed it though. Why don't they make it simple and straightforward, like the way it is here on GAG?

I usually don't delete mine, but I remember I had to make a Gmail one time to set up an account for something and then it was so hard to delete it.

Facebook is even harder. I had to read like 5 different "How To" forums and it took me like 10 minutes.

I think they do it deliberately because they don't wanna lose members and money. But I agree, it's extremely annoying.

Ever since Nadella become the CEO, the company started going downhill. Emails are free but they collect data with AI tech, to get personalised adds. For them to be more effective, they could just ask what adds you want, instead of trying Ai to figure it out.

Oh god, I can relate to his anger! :D Those f**king updates! I hate them too! With the older computers that ran on, for example, Windows 8, you could change the settings to switch them off entirely, and I did that on a laptop that I had. Is he angry because Windows 10 & 11 don't allow that option anymore? Seems that way.

Just leave the account unused for 90 days and they will archive and close the account without bothering you.

Simple question: as long as this mail adress exists you are a user. And the user count is the biggest factor when it comes to ad revenue... so they rather keep that account abandoned than delete it.

I wasn't convinced to stop using windows 10. I have a very hard time doing that.
