It's absolutely NOT - it's just the only way to do it while sitting at home on the couch in front of the TV. If you want a REAL social life, you actually have to leave your house.
Here's what I tell people:
Make a list of activities that you are interested in doing that have some kind of organized group in your area. This could include any sport or game (pool, darts, bowling), any club (car club, book club, movie club, etc.), or any other group. It could be a class, such as a cooking glass, dancing class, or a ceramics class. Different areas will have different regional interests, so those count too.
Rank your list with your favorites at the top, then cross out anything that isn't likely to have people of the opposite sex participating. Then, take the top two choices, find these activities happening locally and join them. The idea is to spend AT LEAST 1 hour per week on each of your two activities. This should expose you to two new circles of people, and from those circles, you can establish friend groups where you do other things outside the activity. Maybe a group goes to the movies, or does a BBQ at someone's house, or whatever. You'll meet more of their friends this way and grow your friends circles.
If one of the activities doesn't pan out, then cross that off and go to whatever is #3 on the list. The idea is that you are doing an activity that you already enjoy, PLUS you are meeting new circles of people, AND they are seeing you doing something you enjoy, so you're going to be happy and happy, positive people come across better to other people.
If you maintain and strengthen your circles of friends, you won't even need the activity to maintain them - many activities are seasonal, but your friends groups can be year-round.
Obviously doing this takes a lot more work than swiping your phone from your bedroom, but the outcomes are FAR better too.
It's not necessarily true that social media is the only way for men to have a social life in this world. While social media can be a convenient tool for connecting with others, there are many other ways to meet people and form social connections.
For example, you could consider joining clubs, groups, or organizations related to your interests, hobbies, or values. You could also participate in community events, volunteer opportunities, or local gatherings to meet new people and form connections in person.
It's important to remember that social connections are important for our overall well-being, and it's possible to cultivate them through a variety of channels. While social media can be a helpful tool, it's important to prioritize face-to-face interactions and other forms of social engagement as well.
