Getting weird spam texts - how to stop them?

Since last night, I've been getting spammed with these annoying Mailer-Daemon text messages saying I couldn't send a message to my Yahoo account. I will sometimes text a link of something like a recipe I want to remember to that email.

They have been coming in a lot. 4 or 5 at a time. They even came at 1:00am and woke me up. They are coming to my text/phone number, not my email. I removed my cell phone number from my yahoo account and changed my yahoo password. Will this help?

I scanned my phone with AVG Antivirus (free version) and it didn't detect anything. My phone is normal otherwise.

How do I stop these super annoying messages? Should I delete my yahoo email?

These people don’t operate through your phone, they get your phone number from a data list that’s sold to them and then they use that to try and find potential scam victims. If you’re in the US, report the fake numbers to the ftc and they can look into it. Otherwise the most you can do is delete the texts and block the individual things sending you numbers whether that’s a fake phone number or an email address

Since it's an email address texting me, I didn't see an option to block the contact and my phone only lets you block phone numbers. I contacted my phone's security team which is included with their security app. I was told basically, they are just annoying spam bots. They obtain your phone number and send annoying spam messages. I did forward the messages to my carrier's automated spam report number. But they still asked for the sender's number for a block which obviously I couldn't provide. The good news is I haven't gotten any other messages since deleting the Yahoo account the messages were pertaining to. Every message would have that Yahoo account at the bottom. It would say sending was temporarily blocked to that email. Hopefully they stay gone.

Okay nvm iphone has the block option still available for emails when looking at the contact information, I don't know if samsung has it too

Usually it does, but when I went to where you usually see block or add contact, only the add option appeared. The block option was totally left off.

If it's a text all you usually need to do is type STOP in the reply or you can block that number in your cell.

When you mark them as spam they can't able to sent you that message anymore..

I can't for some reason. My phone doesn't have an option to mark texts as spam that I've seen. I have blocked some numbers and I have blocked some emails. But I am still getting others that I can't block. There isn't an option for it so I just delete them. I changed my password on Yahoo and disconnected my phone number from the account. So I hope that helps. It's seriously annoying. They will stop then they will start coming in again at random

I think it's because they were coming from an email address. I deleted the Yahoo account. So far, no more messages

But are you able to use your e-mail anymore?

I deleted the entire account, so no. It was not an "important" email account anyhow. I have a separate email with a different provider that I use for my important stuff. I had that Yahoo account for like 15 years lol It was a really old account I basically never ever used for anything. That's why it wasn't a hassle to opt to delete it. I didn't really lose anything.

So far, still not a single Mailer-Daemon text. I usually would have gotten some by now. Hopefully that means it's fully fixed. I contacted my carrier's security team and they confirmed those types of messages may be annoying AF, but they actually aren't threats and your actual device is fine as long as you scanned it and no threats were discovered. I used my phone carrier's protection app and ran a free scan for viruses. It came back clean. The tech told me then my phone was good and advised me on how to try to block the emails from coming to my text inbox. I forwarded all messages to the automated spam report number. I was unable to provide them a number since I didn't have one, but they still said the messages would be reviewed by the team.

Have you signed up for anything recently? Unfortunately, when you sign up for certain things, other companies obtain your number and/or email address.
