Why Don't People Answer Your Questions When Texting?

I became friends with a person at college and we exchanged telephone numbers. This person loves dogs. So I texted this person, "

"What is your favorite breed of dog? When I was growing up, my Mom had a Sheltie. That dog was my best friend."

This person responds,

"Glad to hear from you. Today is so nice. Sunny and bright."

And I've had other people do the same things. I wonder why some people do this.

You just have to ask the question again sometimes maybe I think I might do this sometimes myself

Maybe he was just excited to hear from you and you wanted to tell you about his day maybe he didn't have a dog you never can tell so maybe ask him again

Wow, I've never had people respond by completely changing the subject like that before! But I have had people just not reply to texts at all, or only say a few words. So I've learned not to ask long-winded questions. Best to just arrange a time to hang out, and ask questions then. Texting is too risky.

Try using text for it's real purpose which has nothing to do with have a conversation, but for a quick message. Want to chat try calling and actually having to use your mouth.

People sometimes don't fully read things. Ex directions. We're flooded with ads, signs, texts, emails, etc. People are not focused, distracted, and multitask too much. This leads people to not do anything well and miss simple things like your question.

Broooo that shit drives me crazy too! I wish I knew what the problem was. At first I thought it was because the person just didn't/doesn't feel like answering my questions. Now, I think people just don't read the messages.

Because no one has good social skills anymore. A lot of people now act like they too important and refuse to communicate effectively even to their closest friends. Just how it is nowadays, find some better friends.

In my personal experience I have noticed that some people may not answer my questions in text messages only to answer later on ( meaning hours or days later) or simply out of avoidance.

Because you start with a greeting first it’s the respectful way of texting or emailing someone. Example

Hey Sarah! I’m glad we started talking in accounting class, you mentioned you liked dogs. What’s your favorite dog breed?

Here you are saying a greeting and a pleasure of meeting them and then asking a question

Yeah, I can't stand when that happens.. Like I actually ask to get to know the person and they just go ahead and skip it with a conviction ender..

It's possible they only skimmed over the message and didn't read all off it properly. Some people also don't answer questions because they don't particularly care to answer that question.
