Been using this number since April and I believe this number used to belong to someone else since I've been receiving phone calls from different numbers asking to speak to a certain person. Last night someone tried to register my number on whatsapp I kept receiving messages with an activation code but I ignored. This morning I realized I can no longer receive iMessages on my phone it says that my account has been signed out of iMessage and when I try to activate it again it says 'we're not able to contact this number.' This is very inconvenient cuz it's happening on my work phone and I need my phone and my iMessage to be available all the time. Anyobody knows how to fix this?

That's so sketch! Sounds like the old dude who had this number before is trying to snoop on your messages and stuff. What a creeper. I'd try changing your Apple ID password ASAP just in case he somehow got into that too. Make it super long and random.
As for getting iMessage working again, try completely signing out and then back in. Go to Settings > [your name] > Sign Out. Then sign back in with your Apple ID and password. If that doesn't work, try resetting your network settings. Sometimes that fixes glitches.
You may also have to deregister any other devices he signed into on your number. Check your account under icloud. com to see if any unknown devices are linked. Remove anything you don't recognize.
If all else fails, I'd call your provider and tell them some creep is stalking your texts. See if they can help swap your SIM or give you a new number altogether. Better safe than sorry dude! What a creeper, hope you get it sorted. Let me know if any of that helps!
Did all that and managed to get iMessage back. Thanks for answering.
No worries, glad to hear you got it sorted! Technology can be so frustrating sometimes. Thanks for the update, I'm happy you were able to get iMessage working again on your phone. Must be a relief to have that all fixed. Never fun dealing with other people messing with your stuff. At least now you know what steps to take if it ever happens again in the future. Enjoy the rest of your day!
