Linkedin messages! Can you see if someone has read/open your inmail message?

Hi, does anyone know if you can see when someone has "read" your inmail message on linkedin? or you can't? I messaged someone a month and a half ago but it only says awaiting response. does not say if they saw it or read it. Can they still read it without you knowing? there could be a chance that they haven't been on it. i was paying $30 dollars a month premium just to message a person, so i finally cancelled it today. its been so long and not sure if they will respond back. its expensive and not worth it. i also added this person to my connections we saw each other and worked for abit at the same company and store. i wish you can still message people for free without paying for it and being premium. i hope they aren't ignoring me. maybe the person wasn't under premium:job seeker like i was. so now that i cancelled it can they still message me back? does it affect your current inmail? thanks to everyone who answers.
