How do you clean your ps5?

I'm almost certain the reason for my ps5 shutting off is due to dust build up, but I'm nervous about taking it apart myself.

Alright dude, cleaning the PS5 can definitely seem intimidating but it's really not that bad, I've done it a few times on mine now.

The most important thing is to take your time and pay attention to detail. Start by turning it completely off and unplugging all the cables. Then lay out a clean microfiber cloth on your table to place parts on as you take them off. Grab your cleaning supplies - I like using compressed air to blow out dust first, and iso alcohol on Q-tips to wipe any grime.

Popping off the side panels is easy, just slide them towards the back and gently lift off. Be gentle though cause the tabs can be delicate. Inside you'll see the main components, fan and heatsink. Carefully blow out any dust buildup around the fan and vents with the compressed air. Don't stick the can too close or you could damage something.

For the heatsink, this is the trickiest part cause you'll need to remove and re-apply thermal paste. Plenty of tutorials can explain it better than me, but the paste should be applied in a thin even layer. Too much and it can spill out.

Once the new paste is on, reassemble everything back piece by piece in reverse order. Make sure all the clips and screws are secure so nothing comes loose. Plug it all back in and power it on to test.

I knew this day would come, and probably should have already been doing this but not being a tech guy and having paid a small fortune on a ps5, I haven't been in any rush to mess with it.

The fan had a huge blockage of dust near the button. It's honestly amazing that it was turning on at all lol

But it seems to be working now. Felt like operation but with consequence. Lol I have nothing to do today so it's about to be a gaming day. Make up for lost time lol
